Re: (The new??) ANSCHÜTZ Match 54.30
I find the critisim of Anschutz nolonger supplying a sight set with a top of the range rifle odd. In this day and age, where there are so many options for sights and even handstops. I would expect most shooters buying these rifles will already have a preference for sights and other accessories, and ...

Re: Importing Air Guns From Germany or England
Afaik, there is no legal limitation on sending airguns abroad from the uk. Only gunshops may not sent airguns anymore to uk people. However, export is not included in that rule so still legal. privately its always legal to sent airguns from or in uk (as long as its uk legal limit ofcourse) only pro...

Re: Importing Air Guns From Germany or England
The problem for a UK dealer is that the paperwork now is just daft. For a start you need to be registered with the DTI as an exporter. Then you have to completely fill out the same set of forms (over 20 pages) as BAe have to use texport a Typhoon jet fighter. It also requires the same End User Certi...

Re: Sight raisers for shooting at 100 yards?
If you need to keep your foresight, and can't fit a stepped foresight block, then I would agree Tim and wind on four turns on the rear sight. Its actually a very reliable method to go from 50m to 100yd. Adjusting the cheek piece will be necessary whatever you do if you are adjusting at the rearsight...

Re: Ballistic Cloth / Back Drop
For shots that have missed the pellet catcher Archery nets will work really well. The place I used to work we would dual use the indoor achery range. Mostly just using old BSA Meteros running at under 600 fps. I did test with my 800 fps (12 fpe/16J) Air Arms S400 in .177, and the net comfortably cau...

Re: Anschutz 8001 velocity is way too low.
The gunsmith I referred to did not offer to repair it, just told me his opinion. I got a reply from Anschutz, they told me to contact http://www.anschutznorthamerica.com/ which I have done. Randy Well over on RFC you have already had the MD of Anschutz North America tell you to use Joe Hien, so tha...

Re: npa
Back when I shot prone/3P always used to look away in the prone position. Actually the shot processes was very similar in prone and Standing/kneeling. When I shoot AR (under domestic rules, but similar to IPSC SH1a) I tend to mount the rifle in the shoulder while looking directly ahead (i.e. pretty ...

Re: Standing Revelations
A big thing I could say, but often not do, was putting the rifle down and starting over again, if the sight picture was not good. I often forced bad shots. I actually learned, or better said appreciated, putting the rifle down by shooting next to one of the best shooters in the country. Takes disci...

Re: Which FWB would you reccomend
Anschutz and Styer 10m guns both have side swinging cocking levers, so will always be fine to use with a scope. The Walther LG300/400 rifles have side mounted (easily interchangeable sides on the 400) vertically operated cocking levers, which might need modification to work correctly. The FWB P700 o...

Re: Weight rod and smallbore balance in prone
It strikes me that in general a lighter gun, where that lightness doesn't affect inherent accuracy, offers more choice. It is far easier to add weight to a gun, and so get the balance just right for the individual shooter, than it will ever be to try to reduce the weight of the rifle to achieve the ...

Re: Book for 10M AR Shooting
Both a very worth having, even if you are only going to shoot AR. I wish something that good had been available back when I was shooting 3P. I guess back then, late 80's early 90's the best option was the translation of the "Russian" book. In a similar way to "Ways" it had a lot ...

Re: Returning Shooter -- Gun Options
I've not shot an Anatomic, just an Alutec (basic). I did not really take to the feel of the Anatomic. It just felt a bit odd. If you can afford the "better" Alutec version it will be a lot cheaper than buying the basic and upgrading. Thats assuming you want those particular items. I have t...

Re: Does anyone know of any barrel block prone stocks
I have seen an Omark (well actually I think it was whatever they were before Omark) action fitted in a Walther GX1 stock (an ex Malcolm Cooper one he used for 300m) and it fits nicely. So I would think that the idea of having an adapter made up to fit the action to an Anschutz 20 series inlet stock ...

Re: Returning Shooter -- Gun Options
Personally I think the Walther LG400 is the best pick of the current guns, but FWB are also very good, as are the guns from Anschutz and Steyr. If you can possibly find somewhere that has several different manufacturers guns in stock that would probably help. Given that is unlikely, then a good club...

Re: Basic Questions about Standing Position
The ideal is with the elbow on the hip bone, reality is unless you are a woman, it will be pretty near impossible to achieve. Not even all women can actually achieve this either, but usually they are likely to get closer.

Re: Motorcycle Rifle Case?
I used the same idea as jr with my Anschutz 1813 in a 52" Gunguard single case. I did though have a half fairing and pannier boxes on my old Z750. That meant the gun case was only about 3" wider either side of the bike, so not too much of an issue. I used it for a weekend to Bisley, about ...

Re: Resources for mastering the kneeling position?
Ways of the Rifle. A decent kneeling roll, good legal boots, and decent trousers. Keeling is one position where you realy do need to have good kit to help you do well. You also need to be careful that the kit/position is within the rules.

Re: Moisture in barrel
Well looking at that picture it's pretty much identical to what I get from my Anschutz 1813, no matter what ammunition I use. Over the years I've used Lapua Midas, Eley Tenex and Match (by far Match is the most common) some RWS R50 and even some RWS Geco for practice. They all produce pretty much si...
