Postal Matches/E-matches

Hi all, I've been looking for sometime for a postal/E-match match to participate, however it seems that most of them have gone dead (unless someone can point me to the contrary). I've been thinking about setting up a match of my own, but the format would be somewhat different. The match would be run...

Thanks peep, yesterday I measured the 1st stage in my rifle, travel was 2mm before 2nd stage was taken up. I would like to cut this down to 1 - 0,5mm, however the Anschütz instructions only tell how to eliminate completely the 1st stage.

Setting the trigger on the 2002 CA

Hi all, I'm thinking about changing the trigger setup on my 2002CA, I would like to leave just a vestigial 1st stage and the 2nd stage untouched. The Anschütz manual tells how to eliminate the 1st stage altogether, however this is hardly the case as I'm still sorta-of "cack-fingered"... co...

Flicking

Hi all, sometimes while shooting I notice that my rifle "flips" to the side or upwards at the last moment before breaking the shot. Most annoyingly, I usually can't call off the shot because the movement causes me to trip the trigger, resulting in a less-than-high-standard shot... to add i...

Thanks Peep. I forgot about the Klingner book... ages ago the Brazilian Sports Ministry had it translated into Portuguese (good times when governments actually sponsored shooting sports!!!) and I purchased a copy last year when I started shooting. I do remember him telling about the "palm away&...

Thanks all guys... unfortunately Champion Shooters won't take foreign orders and Varga won't take credit cards, which is a major hassle - a friend has just put a order through to them and had to pay US$50.00 just to have a money transfer issued!!! I'll ask my coach who is money-savvy, if I can remem...

My hand width is just over 80mm across the knuckles at the base of my fingers and I use a Kurt Thune fingerless glove - medium. It was quite a snug fit when I got it first, but it's just right after about 6-8 months of use. You are correct when you say that you get a glove for your left hand when y...

Glove sizing

Hi all, I need a bit of help, I'm interested in purchasing a Kurt Thune glove but I haven't got a clue about sizing... my hand's circumference is +/- 205mm (about 8 1/16") and width at the fattest portion is about 80mm (3 1/8"), I would like to know what size would these mesurements transl...

Trigger release exercises

Hi all, What are the best ways of improving one's trigger release? I know a few exercises, like dry-firing against a blank wall, live-firing on a vertical stripe target and/or on a blank target. I would like to get more info on how to improve my release and other exercises which might be handy. Also...

Palm up, fist up?

Hi all, I've been recently experimenting with my supporting hand position and I have a question... I've noticed that most rifle shooters tend to rest their rifles on top of the closed left-hand fist, however while doing some dry-firing routine I've experimented holding the rifle with the open palm o...

Tsokasn, using a trainer helps a lot - I train once a week using the RIKA and that has boosted my technique a lot. However IMHO it does not replace live firing.

Silencing the mind

Hi all, Is there a way to "silence" one's mind during a match/training session? I have a good concentration, but my mind has a tendency to "wander off" with alarming frequency during shooting sessions. This is becoming pretty annoying and, of course, upsets scores. Any ideas for ...

Anschütz cheekpiece wedges

Hi all, I've got a Anschütz 2002CA rifle with wood stock, it's an older model where the cheekpiece is adjusted in height by inserting/removing sets of wedges from under it. My rifle came with two wedges, now I could do with another couple, I would like to know where I can get more (I know, it's goin...

Thanks again guys. As Peep well put I noticed that there is a lot of "air" between the insert orifice and the target. I guess that I can use a 3.5 or 3.6 instead of the 3.8 I purchased. For the time being I've set one of the sides on the horizontal so one of the vertices points more or les...

Triangular inserts

Hi all, I'm giving a try on some Anschütz triangular inserts (I'm asthigmatic on the shooting eye) and I would like to get more info on how to use them properly. Is there a right way to fit them or is it just a question of screwing it into the sight? How should the sight picture look like, should th...

Thanks, I've posted this question because I've also heard a talk of folks picking up more points by switching to single stage. I've been shooting double stage ever since I've started and got used to it as it allows me to back off in case there is a mistake on the making.

Single Stage, Double Stage

My rifle (an Anschütz 2002) has its trigger set up for double stage. However I've been reading some shooters who claim that a single-stage trigger is better. So I would like to know what setup works best, single or double stage?
