Hi RM I think you migh have it the wrong way round. I started with 6, did that for a year and a bit. Got to 560. Based on theory and such like, decided to go sub6. I've now given it at least 6 months, and it has not been successful. I know I have only done one quick try at 6, but the results were dr...

Re: 2650plus
Like shooting 6oclock, I feel like im not guessing like I do when shooting sub 6. thats my feeling too. I've been trying to overcome that and I just cant do it - I can concentrate on the alignment and the squeeze, it goes off perfectly without a twitch, not 'conciously' - and could be anywhere. I c...

It might be the case that I dont have the mental capacity to force my brain to beleive the sub 6 is as good or better, whilst concentrating on hold, trigger, alignment, etc... i find it exceptionally difficult to get the right amount of focus on the overall sight picture. I dont want too much, becau...

#1 - i dont really worry about the score, other than at the end #2 - i can - and taking a 6 hold made it soooooo easy... I'm wondering if the issues with sight placement have made me work that much harder on my hold / trigger technique, and coming back to an 'easy' sight picture has cashed it in. Wh...

i dont have problems?
If I am averageing 93, and I can ram it up several points instantly - is there any reason not to, despite the theoretical benefits (which I buy into, btw) of using sub6? I have been floundering around in the 550s going nowhere for a while...

what would you do - aim point
In a nutshell
I got to 560 about 6 months ago.
then I decided to change from 6 o'clock to sub 6 aim point
No improvement, no increase in pb (equalled once, but not bettered)
Get frustrated
Try going back to 6 o'clock as an experiment
Shoot consecutive 98/100s
????

explanations
thanks john , I was getting there but didnt quite get all the way!
Wikipedia has a location for the progression of the WR (dates and scores ?) - went to 590 very quickly, not much progression after that. Seems like 595 might be a real long time coming.
cheers

interpreting the pdf
Can someone explain to me which bits are which? I can see the section with each 10 shots for score (Page 2/3, red dots). On page one we have 1P- 11P green dots, and 1-10 (red dots) and then at the beginning of page2 1P-10P (green dots). So which is the sighters / final / etc? Theres no set of 8 shot...

Without wanting to sound too contradictory Bill, YurYev did set national records and was part of at least one world record setting team, so he could 'do' before he set about teaching. I appreciate what you have put up here, I am fully in agreement that concentrating on the postiive is the way forward!

Steve sometimes you confuse me with the implications that I should draw from what you say. I could take your conclusion (after 'anyhow') to mean 1 - I dont understand what he's saying 2 - I'm (going to be) blindly following his advice based on 1) I hope thats not the impression I have put across, an...

Hey Steve I might roll my eyes occasioanlly, but I know you mean well. More fool me for putting up a question open to misinterpretation. Perhaps I should have said ' Do you add additional rearward lean above the minimum necessary (to stop you falling on your face)?' which perhaps covers point 2. Yes...

I agree with the potential back problems. It's not supposed to give more support, but the theory (backed up with included research) is that in that pose, the deltoid and supporting shoulder muscles are longer, and this makes them more effective at performing static work. The result being that they t...

Degree of Lean used by AP/FP shooters
Hi all
I keep reading bits of the Yur'yev book and one thing that is currently filling my brain is the section on stance. For those of you who dont have it the relevant section is attached. Which do you use? Basically upright, or deliberately leaning back, more than the minimum that you have to?
