The practice of holding the hammer back or keeping the trigger depressed when loading a 1911 goes back to earlier times when the trigger shoes were made of steel instead of aluminum. The combination of a long, solid steel trigger and a 3.5 lb or lighter trigger pull could cause the hammer to be bump...

Back then, the triggers and trigger shoes were all made of steel, not aluminum, so not holding the trigger or hammer back when loading could cause the inertia of the heavier trigger to cause the hammer to drop to half-cock, which would do nothing good for the finely polished sear face. A great trigg...

The Star have unfortunately been out of business for a few years now, but Zero makes a 185 grain LSHCHP that is almost as good. I've had even better results with the Zero 200 grain lead SWC. Over 4.2 Bullseye, they often go into one big hole at 50 yards, where I almost always got some amount of vert...

My $.02: Due to casting imperfections, the odds are that you won't be able to consistently get the same 50 yard accuracy with cast bullets as Noslers, but I've proven on the Ransom rest several times with many different guns, that I can do better than my best Nosler load with the right load behind a...

Oil or Grease
My 2 cents: I have a Rock River wadgun that now has over 85,000 rounds through it, and the only work that has been done to it is to have the barrel bushing replaced twice, not because of innaccuracy, but because they became loose enough to turn without a bushing wrench. The gun is still tight enough...

Pardini Air Pistol Dot Mount
Anybody know of anyone that makes a Weaver type base that will clamp onto a Pardini K2S air pistol, or another way of mounting an UltraDot to one? Thanks.

BME Slide Mount for S&W Model 52
I have a new BME S&W52-RR slide mount for the S&W Model 52 that I'll sell for $85. shipped. This one fits on the slide with no modifications to the gun. The rear sight can be removed and this mount installed in a few minutes.

Ruger Mark II Trigger Upgrade
I've done a few Mark II's now using the Clark trigger and hammer pin / bushing, and the Volquartsen sear. Trigger pull is fairly crisp with a hint of roll (the way I like it) and right at 2 lbs - a perfect Bullseye trigger.

Anyone know who currently might have Bo-Mar sights for sale? I'm looking for a rear sight to fit a Beretta 92. Thanks.

Iron Sight Classification
I initiated a discussion on that very topic at Camp Perry last year with Dennis Willing who is a referee at Camp Perry and on the NRA Pistol rules committee. Dennis said that issue has surfaced many times in the past, but always failed to have a sufficient amount of support to change the rules. My p...
