I have been at this for 20 yrs and still have trouble just focusing on the front sight and not allowing my focus changing from shot to shot or even during the same shot. It will be one of those things you will always have to work on. I had some coaching yesterday and at one point the coach asked me...

I've only recently taken possession of a Pardini SP (#B1302, if that means anything). It's been very happy so far with CCI Standard, and SK Standard Plus, though I've had one failure to cycle properly with the SK (I think it was a bit soft to eject properly.. dunno), and CCI Standard sometimes misfi...

Do most people not lock their elbow when shooting?

Thanks, that's reassured me. That MEC document in particular shows that there's nothing wrong with a modicum of eccentricity when shooting!

I've just got back from Wednesday night air pistol, where I shot a PB of 505. I've broken (Australian) C grade (500/600) three times before, but have been on a plateau for months, around 490. I think one thing that made a big difference is that in the last week while training at the range I wrote do...

I've been told, but don't know if it is true or not, that under Western Australian 'home invasion' legislation it is acceptable to use a handgun in strict self-defence; ie although self-defence is not a valid reason for owning a firearm, once you've got one it might be so used. I haven't been able t...

Heh. Much like "freedom of information" legislation, which in practise acts to carefully prevent people from finding out anything of interest.

Thanks, Steve, but I think you're pushing your hypothesis too far beyond the limits of the data. The research you've cited presents a strong argument for lessening gun controls in the interests of promoting personal protections. But it doesn't rationally support the UK handgun ban increasing violent...

The situation as was in the UK doesn't sound much different to the situation as is in Australia. And here the rate of handgun ownership, or indeed of any firearms, is so low that it simply wouldn't feature in any decision to attack a person or break into their property. I doubt that it ever would ha...

In Australia, privately owned guns used to shoot at other people are invariably used in a crime of passion or theft of property. Or gang w...

FWB 100 model changes (Was FWB 100 manual)

I have recently purchased a FWB LP100 air pistol (#406260), and I've found a manual for the LP100/102 at the FWB web-site. The manual, however, doesn't seem to exactly describe my pistol: the manual describes the grip angle as adjustable, and mine certainly seems to be fixed, and the arrangement of ...

The manuals I've seen on-line for the Walther OSP/GSP suggests that they are simply converted by changing the barrel and the trigger unit: they were designed that way. In fact, I've been told that "all (Walther GSP and OSP) parts for the last thirty years" are effectively interchangeable, ...

Thanks. I didn't notice anything odd about the rear sight at all; and if it were missing entirely, then everything would have 'grouped' downward, no?

I am interested, though, in just how personal grips can be, and how far off a new gun can feel.

Grip and sight adjustment on a 'new for you' pistol

Perhaps similar to Swoffer and his Izh-46m, I had trouble yesterday with the sights on a Walther GSP. I was inspecting one that's for sale, and spend a long time just figuring out how to hit the target: I eventually found that by clicking elevation and windage to their limits I could hit the upper l...
