Re: Marvel Frame

I'm purchasing a Marvel conversion unit and am looking for a dedicated frame.. I'm a bit reluctant on picking up a complete Springfield GI and tossing the slide back in the box just to use the frame. So I'm looking at $650+, for the 1911, as a partial investment for this 22. Is this practical or wo...

Hi ND, Buy a Pardini. Advantages: 1. Gun is in current production, easy to get parts 2. Magazine forward design accommodates many grips, can fit any size hand 3. Super adjustable trigger, make it do what ever you want 4. Easiest European gun to put a dot on with built in rails, no ejection port inte...

It took me 8 years to find out that the Pardini won't eject a live round, mine is that reliable. I would keep a popsicle stick in my box so I can remove the magazine, lock it back, and push it out the bottom. Took me quite a while to figure out why the bolt wouldn't come all the way back! Steve. So...

My K2 is uncomfortably loud. It seems to always be the loudest air pistol on the line.

I have a pair of the "mold your own" ear plugs I made a few years ago. Although they're really poor ear plugs, they're comfortable and take off enough of the edge to be useful for AP.

If your not looking for the ultimate competition pistol, then I would suggest a model 41 instead. It's a classic, still in production, and the easiest gun on the planet to clean. You can also get extra barrels (that take 5 seconds to install), anatomical grips, and lots of other stuff. As to your or...

Another option could be an izh-35. You could grind down the grip, and it had a first class trigger.

It seems to me that intentionally introducing a complex force generating mechanism (the recoil absorber) to a 10 meter pistol would be counter productive to accuracy, especially if it malfunctioned. That being said, a lot of people seem to like them. My gun doesn't have one, but I will try my friend...

Here's a metric that I like to use: The gun should shoot a group 1/3 the size of the shooter or smaller. If this is true, then the gun adds at most 10% to the size of the overall group (not 33% as you would think). My limit for accuracy is a 2" 10 shot group (extreme center to center) at 50 yar...

This can happen if the over travel stop is set too close. I was shooting a Ruger Mark II when I felt the trigger release to the stop without the gun going off. I squeezed the trigger very hard and managed to get the shot to release, but I should have just pulled back the bolt. Now I adjust the trigg...

If you are looking for a light weight gun for someone with small hands, you might want to consider a Ruger 22/45. You can get a new one and a trigger job for my guess is $400 or so, and magazines and such are cheap and easily available. I have one for my son and although the grip's too thin for me, ...

According to my calculations, my K2 (at 526 fps) is at it's peak trajectory between 9 and 10 meters. It's down hill in either direction. The good news is that I can shoot in my 9 meter basement without adjusting sights. I can also pretty much shoot at the NRA B2 slow fire target without sight adjust...

I guess you need the right reamer. If you got a "match" reamer that was smaller than the original it might not be big enough to remove the "coke bottle" from the end of the barrel. I'll bet a wooden dowel and some 1000 grit wet/dry paper and maybe some oil would do the job, assum...

Not for nothing, but why can't you just run a chamber reamer in to cure a peened down chamber? A new barrel seems a bit excessive...

Hi Clarence, You should be able to easily test your model 41 off a sandbag for accuracy with a dot. If you can shoot under 2" for a 10 shot group at 50 yards, I wouldn't bother with a new barrel. My short barrel is quite mediocre, but my long barrel shoots around 1 3/4 inches with CCI std, not ...

I stopped shooting bullseye with my contact lenses for that reason. The dot looks fuzzy with the contacts, but round with my glasses. Interestingly enough, neither has any correction for astigmatism.

I think when all is said and done, all the American pistols shoot about the same. You might want to get the trigger tuned up on the Ruger, but after that they're all in the ballpark. That being said, I think the model 41 is the best choice for all the "other" reasons: 1. It's nicely made (...

Try this simple experiment: Prop the gun up on a sandbag and get the dot on a target at the proper distance. Without touching the gun, look through the tube and move your head around and you'll see the effects of parallax. If the gun is on target with the dot in the center of the tube, you can see h...

In my gun (2002 SP), plastic box CCI Std Vel has the same accuracy and reliability as RWS target. The velocity of the CCI is just a little higher however. At over $200 more a case, I'd be hard pressed to justify RWS over CCI in my gun. The paper box CCI was quite a bit hotter, from what I understand...

That's a neat gun. I've always wanted one, but they're not very common around here. Can you bump up the light trigger? I don't know a lot about the DES adjustments.
