I think a slight change to the shot process could help here. A lot of shooters take up the first stage way too early, and sit there waiting for the sights to settle down. Both physically and mentally it becomes a freeze point. If you're at all tentative (like when you're nervous in a match) the tend...

230 BAR???

I think the velocity is just fine. I've seen K2s at up to 600fps, which is a bit overboard. Anything up to 550 is probably within normal range. But should you fill your cylinder to 230 BAR? I thought only the Walther was rated at over 200 BAR for continual use? You should be careful to note that som...

Don't change direction of cylinder rotation

Those o-rings are particularly prone to shred if you partially unscrew the cylinder, then screw it back into place. In other words, if you start to unscrew it from the regulator, take it all the way off. Also, don't screw it part way on, then screw it off. You are loading the o-ring in one direction...

Haere mai, Daniel. You probably should not wind up the hammer spring all the way, as you're probably not gaining a lot of velocity over wasting a lot of gas. If you can get a hold of a chronograph you'll see that velocity peaks out at a certain stage, after that you're just expelling way too much ga...

It was also marketed under brand name Gecado. Try this page http://www.pilkguns.com/tenp/spgec10.htm.

In my country, people who know less than 10% of the information on this thread can shoot Free Pistol 560+ And I'm willing to bet the coaches stress simplicity - make each shot a good technical shot process. NOT the "ten or bust" mentality we seem to foster here. Look after the simple thin...

Fair enough Nev. I've been gone from Oz since 2000, and apparently my source got it all wrong. Has there been a trial as yet? I've got to admit, an article in The Age doesn't fill me with confidence they got everything straight - has there been any discussion within the SSAA about it? Still goes to ...

Sadly this trajedy could happen at almost any college campus in the USA. Actually, it could easily happen on any college campus in the world. The Monash University shooting of a few years ago was done by a Chinese National who obtained a 1911 45 illegally. The media at the time claimed he was a lic...

Shooting roll triggers

I know you said you disliked shooting roll triggers in slow fire... here's something you can try to get way better results. Instead of firing one shot at a time, commit to firing doubles, or even 3 shots in a string. A roll trigger will punish a stop-start-stop-start technique unmercifully. But if y...

Gosh David, you must have had a special model ;-) Mine would throw cases to all points of the compass. It's good to know that it ejected the empties without the extractor... I suspected that would have been the case, but as I said, I never had to shoot one without. I remember losing an extractor in ...

I guess we have to agree to disagree on this, 789. 1. I like a roll trigger. Even for slow fire. Not everybody does. But you might notice that every major manufacturer has, over time, developed their trigger with the OPTION to give at least a little roll to the 2nd stage - with the possible exceptio...

If you are the sort of person who drives a car and never checks oil or tires, the FAS is probably not for you. 789, if your gun is that bad, you might just have a lemon. Which happens in any brand. I'd hate to guess how many top-10 positions were taken at the Australian nationals over the past 20+ y...

I'd second the suggestion to contact my brother Rob through http://www.potfire.com.au Lots of Aussie shooters used the Toz 49 over the years, as well as the 36. Don't know if it's still the case but you could buy 3-die sets in Simplex Master (standard 7/8x14 thread). Master is important, because Sup...

I believe it all comes down to having a technique that works under the worst of conditions, not the best. A shot process that produces a *good* technical shot every time. Not always a ten, but rarely outside the nine. Instead of this we bang our heads against the wall trying to shoot the perfect ten...

It's not difficult to weigh your cylinder. All you need is a reasonably accurate digital scale.

But most shooters habitually fill their cylinder after shooting a match, so even having a gauge on a pre-charged air pistol is pretty redundant.

I've probably worked with more Rikas than anybody here in the States, and I've got to say your problem, as described, is a new one on me. First, we made our own version of an English setup manual, and you can get it here: http://www.pilkguns.com/coach/qsm.htm The pickup area of the Rika sensor is ab...

Thanks David.

Obviously Morini needs to look at that. I guess I never noticed it when I used a 162EI - my light gap is pretty slim so I was well within adjustment limits.

After talking with Daisy I thought the new stock had adjustable butt plate - at least for length, that was easier than the old spacer system. I know it won't have an adjustable cheek piece.
