I noticed that the 2nd and 3rd places in the Women's 25m Pistol today were taken by Walther SSP's.

It's certainly interesting to see them being used at this level and by competitors who have obviously changed over to them (both competitors have been shooting a long time).

Maybe it is only starting a rumor but imagine if Microsoft bought out Match Guns. We would now have model MG 2.15.9 and it would still cease to function for no apparant reason and the original problem would be no nearer to being fixed ;-) Not only that but on service release 3, you would have to ad...

New Pardini Pistols

Pardini have some new pistols out. They're not on their website yet, but I got an email from them with a pdf attachment. I've attached some pics as pdf's (the one they sent me is too big).

My club has 8 of the 4K560 targets which are the ones designed for pistol. They have a 500mm x 500mm detection area and we've used them very succesfully for 10m air rifle competitions. University College Dublin recently purchased 14 of the 4k187 systems for airgun primarily and they are extremely ha...

I have tried the Walther SSP recently. The pistol was very new (less than 500 rounds) and these are the impressions I got from it. The recoil is very different from other pistols I have tried (Pardini, GSP, AW93, IZH 35 etc.). It recoils pretty much straight back through the hand and arm rather than...

Not for 10m they aren't (under ISSF rules). What about rule 8.4.10.1:- "The use of telescopes not attached to the pistol to locate shots or judge the wind is permitted for 25 m and 50 m events only." That being said, we do not know that Gordon is talking about 10m. Indeed. In addition if ...

I would have thought that this would be outlawed under the spirit of the rules. The ISSF rules state; "The use of telescopes not attached to the pistol to locate shots or judge the wind is permitted for 25 m and 50 m events only" Whilst a camera and monitor is not a telescope it will be a...

That's a lot for a second hand pistol (assuming it's the old model as well). I know prices are a bit cheaper in Europe, but my SP New only cost about $150 more than that including shipping.

The targets I've used (Sius, Megalink and Meyton) all show decimals during sighters, "regular" scoring during qualification and decimals during final (sighters included). However you can see what decimal each shot has if you look at the list of the last 10 shots. I've used both Sius and M...

You should get hex screws for the grip and the shelf. They're far easier to tighten and adjust than the standard slot-head screwdriver ones fitted, which you can never seem to tighten satisfactorily.

I think they're a standard M4 thread.

I note with surprise that no-one is considering electronic targets instead of turning targets. I appreciate that the turning targets are cheaper to make, but when you add the cost of paper targets, the running costs get a lot higher. Single targets start at about $4500 each, but that drops as you ad...

Canadian Range Manual

It seems that we in Ireland are adopting the Canadian Range Manual as the 'bible' for range construction and safety here.

Does anybody here know where I can get a copy of this or point me to the appropriate place?

The Megalink targets we use can be scaled very easily. The scaling is built in to the software. If you are not using their monitors, you can use a PC/Laptop and buy a target head for about €1250. The more I hear about Megalink the more impressed I get. That price is pretty good too. Slight health w...

About €3400 each depending on quantity. That's about $4750
