Re: How much does shooting matter to a school like MIT?

I commend you on your worth goal. I have a nephew in the current MIT MBA graduating class, I believe he pretty much aced the GMAT, his undergrad was computer science plus he worked for a Wall Street firm, so they look at a lot but I'm sure academics are more of a deciding factor for undergraduate ad...

Arnie still has equipment to make grips, you just have to find his contact info.

Re: Hamm. 208S front sight

according to the parts list it's 3.6x8. I was just looking for what originally comes from the factory. My 208S didn't have a front sight so I am ordering the original size.

Hamm. 208S front sight

What is the standard size front sight for a Hammerli 208S? I see there is a 3.6x8 and 3.6x9. What is typically used for standard pistol?

Re: Franklin Green 300x? Hardball Team Match Score

1969 Don Hamilton was high NTT with a 290-12. 1968 did not have a NTT match, it was the first year of no military support of the matches. My friend Arnie Vitarbo won the NRA service pistol match, as it was called that year, with a 293-12. 1967 GySgt Cate shot a 292-13 for high shooter in the NTT 196...

Re: Franklin Green 300x? Hardball Team Match Score

Based on match reports in NRA magazines at the time, which covered the Nationals pretty well, I can say for almost certainty that is not the case. I do remember that Don Hamilton shot a 298 during a NTT match of that period and that is the highest score I remember. I will double check, if I remember...

You can run any pistol you want in NRA Centerfire but there is not much participation there because once a "tactical shooter" has to shoot one handed at 50 yards they all run back to their plates at 7 yards. Nobody wants to work at this stuff anymore. I agree that some change is needed but...

have you double checked your overtravel on the .45? I have seen significant differences in offhand groups when the overtravel gets out of adjustment. Depending on how a 1911 trigger group is setup the overtravel adjustment can make huge differences in trigger feel and how the gun shoots offhand, as ...

I have been contemplating buying a Springfield Range Officer. All you have to do to it is switch out the beavertail and the hammer to make it legal for distinguished. sorry, but the frame is altered to allow the beavertail and that makes the gun illegal for CMP matches. Buy the basic mil-spec and s...

Re: HARDBALL - Doing it right.

All you distinguished pistol shot badge holders and old timers please share the tips and tricks to shooting CMP Service Pistol matches. What do you think helped you? Thanks in advance. What helped me, a Marvel 22 conversion, dryfire and not looking for crutches, like your compensator idea. executio...

One of the quickest ways to make dryfire tougher and more interesting, is to set a goal. For a U.S. shooter trying to get Distinguished the first step is to dryfire 10 perfect shots. Like Keith says get very picky about each shot. Once you do 10 in a session, then train until you can break 5 in a ro...

no offense but 285 with a 22 definitely means you just need to practice more and not look for a crutch on the 45. You can comp your 45 and it won't bring that 22 score up one bit. Practice will bring up all your scores. Think about the thousands of men and women that have made HM before you without ...

when people bring up the compensator question I always ask "what are your .22 scores?" if your not cleaning the shortline with a 22 every string then you are wasting your time and money trying to comp a 45. Learn how to hold and break the trigger inside the 10 ring first. Ruby Fox ran a 38...

I have a SP from the Nygord period, so that would probably be considered the middle of the three models. I have only handled a SP new and I believe the biggest differences are trigger adjustability and recoil reducer improvements on the New model. The earlier models, SPE, had no support ribs on the ...

I think Dave Wilson might be seeing double. I had asked him these same questions about 10 days ago regarding my new Unique .32. He replied that he doesn't do Unique's and that Dr. Young had his done by someone, who I cannot recall right now, and provided me the gunsmiths number. I don't think Dave w...

I see no sight changes going from 50ft. to 25yd. with any of my SP's, but that is just me you could be different. I don't do FP. The target will appear the same visually at all yard lines because the aiming black increases in proportion to the yardage increase. It is pretty much impossible to give a...

Has anyone out there actually seen/handled/shot these revolvers?? If so-perhaps they could give the forum members their take/opinion/impression on the quality of these pistols. The model 3263 with target grips(32 S&W Long) should be interesting to some pistol shooters.Tnx I asked the TT board a...

I didn't know that. I have imported several pistols from Potter Firearms and it was easy, so I might try that, but the last time I talked to the Potter's they said the restrictions increased on their side and it was much harder to export to the U.S.

Thanks for idea though and I will try.
