Guys - Hugo is 17 years old and new to shooting. Some of the responses that have been posted are empty of suggestion and not particularly helpful or insightful. He wanted practical advice that would stop him focussing on his stance not whether or not 'smart' extracts from move scripts would find him...

Hi Hugo Foot position is not the most important aspect and may be distracting you from the main objective, which is that the pistol and body must point naturally towards the target. I too had the same problem as you, worrying about correct position of my feet first, and yes it was frustrating until ...

Pistol shooting footwear - discuss.

OK folks - the experienced amongst you will have a lot to say and the newer will be 'all ears'; count myself as the latter. I can see why a flat stable platform is better than an arched platform but... 1. What shoes do people wear for shooting pistol? 2. Should we be spending £100/$100 on proper pis...

Gentlemen - absolutely 'spot on'. I loosened the two rear grubs and now the foresight aligns perfectly with the rearsight when I come into the aim - effortless; thank you for the excellent advice.

All the above

Chaps - I was a bit quiet in responding because I wanted to see where the advice/debate panned out; let's just say that across of all of your views there is wealth of very functional advice - of which I much appreciate, so thank you. The LP50 does shoot well and I have no doubt about the pistols qua...

Bit more specific for the experts

When the pistol is in the raised position so that my position and hold is the most natural and fluid the foresight picture sits proud of the rearsight line by about 2mm, consequently I 'tip' the pistol everso slightly to gte the correct sight alignment and this has an adverse effect on my natural po...

I missed the dry firing bit, too quick you see. If it only happens with a loaded, then chances are it is anticipation of the shot , there is bound to be a coach on here who'll advise on that. However, years ago I used to train an Army pistol team using the 9mm - bit different but principle you see w...

Physiologically speaking it is highly possible your team mate is gripping the pistol too tightly, probably through his thumb muscle rather than fingers, and he has a weak wrist in comparison (so no compensation). One technique is to squeeze the grip as tight as possible and then gently relax, an opt...

Adjustments on Morini grips fitted to a Steyr LP50

Hi there - new to this, but have a question. What methods do shooters use for adjusting the morini grips on a Steyr LP50/LP10? Context: I have an LP50, and want to make sure I am getting the most out of the adjustments and the manual is a little 'brief' on exactly what you can adjust. You chaps prob...

How suitable LP50 for AP60?

Hi forum experts: I am shooting the Steyr 5-shot LP50 in the AP60, 10m. Am I handicapping/limiting myself by using a semi-auto for this? My scores run between 487 and 510, and am only in week 2 of the discipline. I intend to shoot both rapid fire, standard air and ISSF AP60. Might I need two pistols...
