Nifty work!
However, if you can't see the front sight clearly, you need a different lens, not an iris, and if you are going to use an iris, it's better on the eye-side of your correction lens.

Ed, the book is really a catalogue of spare parts, from Raznoexport, in both Russian and (good!) English. No date, but probably '70s-'80s (?). No publisher info - it looks like a trade production, rather than published for general consumption, but who knows how things worked behind the Iron Curtain?...

Thanks Ed, I think the 1MB limit may be a problem. I think that, for reliability, the scanned pages should remain as images, rather than be 'scanned to text'. The GA drawings are very detailed, so resolution would need to be kept reasonable. Perhaps I can make the images .pdf files for uploading. Pe...

I use Linux, not Windoze, but can nevertheless shrink the files to a reasonable size... but what then? I'm sorry, but I haven't tried to fathom out how to upload files somewhere so that they are available to this forum. Also, I note the recent request for info to be made available to the shooting wi...

I don't have Yur'yev's book to hand, but have a borrowed copy of a Russian / English book with exploded drawings, parts lists and a GA drawing of the Vostok MC50-2 CO2 pistol - is this the same one? The book is a mine of information and beautiful drawings. It has drawings of about 60 Soviet long and...

You can calculate the acceleration of the pellet using the simple f=ma equation if you know its mass and the nett force acting on it. This nett force is the forwards force from air pressure behind, less friction, acting in the opposite direction. Because this type of air gun uses a metered small vol...

'Great!' I thought, 'I'll join the Yahoo group', so I went to the registration page and read the Terms of Service, like you do (you don't?). About 20% in, I thought 'No way!' Pity. Anyone know any other source of FP info / advice, which does not exist behind similar, unsatisfactory terms or conditio...

Update... Extraction still not good with different ammo and case lubrication. Closer look shows fairly deep peening of breech face from firing pin. I guess the previous owner just closed the breech and pulled the trigger when he put the gun to bed, instead of releasing the firing pin spring with the...

FWIW, have now done a little investigating of the poor extraction... The extractor claw is designed to pull, or, rather, flick the case back only a few mm. The case should have enough momentum to clear the breech, after this 'flick'. There's nothing wrong with the flicking mechanism or the extractor...

Seems like a case of badly formulated rule. It's several decades since I learned my human anatomy, but Gray's (sic) Anatomy and other anatomical textbooks on the shelf have been consulted. The medical definition of the wrist is a bit woolly: it's called the carpus, and therefore includes the carpal ...

Contact lenses! Some purists raise a few issues about shooting with contacts, but these are small-order effects, particularly compared to his current problems. Should be able to get some soft lenses from an optometrist on a trial basis for free. Unless he's also badly astigmatic, he will probably fi...

This has to be either the depth of focus of your eye is reducing as you shoot, or it is becoming effectively more short-sighted (myopic) as you shoot, or both. The smaller your pupil, the greater the depth of focus your eye has. Perhaps your pupil size increases as you shoot. Perhaps this reflects c...
