thanks bill, that is a very good explanation of your trigger My only comment on your last post is your visualisation. If I was coaching you I would have you visualise the whole shot, including recoil, sound, shot placement (not result). then do it. (shot placement last) this is to help improve your ...

thats interesting, I never really got the idea of juggling things, maybe because I try to do it consciously? if you apply the zen principle, if he stops his mind to any one task, he might be looking for a new job! steve, the post on agreeing with definition of terms is one of the best ideas. to add ...

I think you can consciously do one thing at a time. but the number of things you can do at once is very high. you just dont realise it. while reading this you are doing thousands of things, but consciously doing one, reading. So if a juggler is juggling 4 axes, which one is he thinking about? If his...

another old thread. looks like the issue is having 2 coaches, not changing to a new one. looks like he got some good advice. coaching in asia can be very different to most places re-coaches and their following. for an outsider to gain their respect is difficult as they will have their provincial coa...

Sorry larry, I am learning about pistol, but some things are the same. I also see where some are coming from as I have been there already. I am finding pistol very hard. you can lean on the rifle a bit. and yes, I have always been a pain. I do listen, have learned a lot, lots more to learn, and try ...

Hi david, as you are aware, I am new to this pistol stuff, so I will try to explain for an event I am not profficient in. So the first issue is at higher levels, not beginners, when you put pellet etc in it is to produce a result. most other things you work on you shouldnt have a pellet in. or use a...

to me, at higher levels of competition, it is all training till you put the pellet/bullet in. then it is practice, that is practicing comps. if you are training with pellets you are training to train, not practicing comps. So how do you train for Standard Pistol and Rapid Fire Pistol. training is n...

stirring things up again! what happens on the day is a combination of your past experiences, the biggest factor how you are thinking. regardless of your preparation, if you are not thinking well, the wheels fall off. the better prepared, the less affect, generally. you can take a break, recompose, a...

steve, other than you, who else do you know has wasted time working on thier hold? maybe it was the exercises you were doing? by focusing on the sights, is in effect trying to hold the pistol steadier! since your hold goes across the 10 from time to time, how come your results are far from a 600?????...

you guys have been busy. axel, thank you for the unfetted mind, it is very helpful to see there is nothing new about this. I need to read the notes a few times to take it in, there is alot of information. I think what they said is the same as today. A version without explainations would be good. to ...

when I was 11, I listened to the reply of a world champion when asked how he shot so well, his reply was he consistently shot 610 in training! although one could easily dismiss this statement, maybe he did do this? when in the zone, it could in fact be described as avoid of thought. yes, the artical...

scatt theory looks like classic goes straight to the target, then settles, where dynamic slowly moves to the target while settling, having a short period on the aiming mark as has already settled. also noticed how they stopped at the centre of the target before moving to the aiming area. so what is ...

steve, you need to glean through the artical again! steve, most sports are similar/same on the mental side. muscle memory side is often different. cross training is nothing new, it allows more competitions, and some variety. cross training is you train one event, and shoot comps in several. one of y...

rob, I think the student has to respect the coach to learn from them. off the range, friends. on the range, when I am coaching, Im the boss. it is not very productive otherwise. but in saying that I work very hard to create a team that works together. to me this is an important role of the coach. on...
