Re: Pellet choice- for air pistol,....
He is on an elite level...I am still learning air pistol and simply trying to get better. There is also another aspect that can be disregarded on the beginner and intermediate level but not on the elite level: psychological. If shooter knows that there are no damaged/malformed pellets, he/she might...

Re: New Top Tier Air Pistol Recommendations
I am looking at purchasing my first pistol for the 10 meter air pistol competitions. Do you have any - and, if yes, then how much - experience in shooting rimfire and/or centerfire ISSF pistols? The reason I am asking is I believe if you do not have a lot of such experience, you are not prepared to...

Re: Olympic 10m which pistols?
I do not think I have seen such table. Plus I expect sometimes it would not be easy to tell which variant of say Walther LP500 it is just by looking at pictures/videos from competitions.

Re: Aiming mindset
To stop neck pain, hold the gun in your left hand out for as long as you've been doing the drill in the right hand, (I'm assuming you are right handed) to help strengthen those muscles as well I would say that in general almost whatever exercise you do that is related to muscles other than fingers ...

Re:
But if the shooters group has drifted slightly off of the ten over the course of match, and they've checked off all other factors, I'd assume it's totally reasonable to adjust the pistol sights. Sure, once other factors are excluded it's perfectly OK to use the feature you have paid so much money f...

Re: Stance
Well... There is a general handbook rule and there is real world. The rule is simple and is all about straight parallel/perpendicular lines: heels on a line perpendicular to the target, slightly right (or left for the left hand shooters) of the center of the target, feet perpendicular to the heels l...

Re: New(ish) shooter with questions on sightsQuote Gwhite
I would never advise a shooter to not adjust his sights based on shifting groups just because they should be able to stand in the same position in theory. I assume we're talking about shooters that are way past the trigger jerking or wrist/palm/fingers tightening phase. When shots keep grouping but...

Re: New(ish) shooter with questions on sights
Sometimes they don't understand that if they CAN call their shots and they are going someplace they don't like, that fixing it with a sight adjustment is a band-aid that will come back to bite them later. Sometimes people develop a quite consistent bad habit and compensate for it by adjusting sight...

Re: New(ish) shooter with questions on sights
Actually people are able to maintain the same body position for the duration of the whole event, be it 30, 40 or 60 shots. People train how to do this, and train how to stand in the same position every time they begin shooting, the similar way they train how to hold the grip the very same way each t...

Re: New(ish) shooter with questions on sights
You aren't supposed to think of it as a bunch of separate pieces. I agree with you. Actually all I wanted to say was that I see no difference in the number of factors that have to take into account no matter if you use the center hold or the six hold. You want to maximize the symmetry by setting th...

Re: Looking for my first Olympic airpistol
But the most important thing for me is having fun and I'm not easily stressed. Not under pressure either. I am also not very stressed when I know there is no way I'm gonna be in the top six (unless a miracle happens). But when there are real chances that I would be competing for the top three - now...

Re: New(ish) shooter with questions on sights
Mine is kinda deep sub-six for air pistol and free pistol. For rimfire and centerfire it is closer to center-six. Yeah, I know probably in theory ir should not be like that and I should have the same hold for all. But it seems that - since the distance between front and rear sight in my air and free...

Re: Looking for my first Olympic airpistol
I'm.aiming for beeing able to beeing stable around 540-550 and upwards. I think it is well within your reach, even during the competitions. And 550 in Swedish Cup events would put you among the top 20 participants. That could be a nice feeling :) Only time will tell but this is why I want my own gu...

Re: New(ish) shooter with questions on sights
Some follow up questions though re: 600 hold. [...] Why is this the case? In short, precise alignment of two dark/black parts (front and rear sight) on the dark/black) background is much more difficult than on the light/white background. Personally I see a lot of truth in this. instead of requiring...

Re: Aiming
When aiming, do you move up above the desired target/aiming point and then move down onto it, or just move the pistol up to where you want to aim? I am one of the rare ones that move just up, not up-over-the-target-than-down. Works for me pretty well. Supposedly the latter should be better. I tried...

Re: Looking for my first Olympic airpistol
Don't know how far one can go as I'm soon 49 years old but this is something I would like to do as long my body also thinks it's OK. I started shooting air pistol a couple of years ago, when I was nearly 10 years older than you are now. And I am certainly not the oldest one I see around me shooting...
