Re: SCATT Trial at ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl
Out of interest, what are people's views of SCATT? It's the first time I've heard anyone say they have to adjust every so often so it corresponds to the holes. I'm an okay pistol shooter, I'm improving and want to get to international standard. I'm calling my shots correctly and regularly. I know wh...

Re: "Sensive" Trigger Blades for Air Pistol?
The long term goal is to make a good (relatively quick) trigger pull automatic, so I can concentrate on my sight alignment. My new "shot-process-for-geezers" has several aspects: 1) Start with the sights just above the black, and get them all lined up & in sharp focus. 2) Drop smoothl...

Advice on triggers, the technical aspects
Hi all, I was at a pistol training camp last weekend and triggers came up. I have a manual steyr evo 10 sport pistol with a standard curved trigger. One of the coaches advised I should sand down the palm side of the trigger, make it thinner, to help reduce the chances of the trigger finger doing an ...

Re: weight lifting shoes for shooting 10M AP
I went for weight lifting slippers in the end.
Very thin, very light and only £15.
Not great to wear the whole day but only use for shooting.

Follow through; 1, 2, 3, 4 seconds or longer?
Hi all, Slowly improving my pistol shooting. I've heard follow through is very important. I heard a member from a European team say, "it's all dry fire and follow through". So for the top shooters out there, how long is your follow through? I am trying to length my follow through to about ...

Re: Locking the elbow and coaching 10 meter.
[IMG_0431.jpeg People do different stuff. Here’s Moritz Minder many years ago. He set a world record. Lotsa guys tried this, and realized it’s what worked for him. It’s more important to understand that a visual image does not necessarily indicate tension and stress at play. While it is mostly used...

I get that.
So should the final then, just be another 60 shots?
Should there be a final?
Marathon running there is only one race and that's it?

Re: Olympic Rapidfire 2028 LA
Hi everyone, Lots of comments about pistol being dull and unwatchable to a main stream audience. Well there are lots of dull, dull sports out there, darts, snooker, curling etc etc. What makes it watchable is two people or teams competing directly against one another. Also there are only a few sport...

Thank you everyone for your comments on this.
Alot to review and also not to be too paranoid about particular technical view points. Just keep arm straight and comfortable.

Re: Locking the elbow and coaching 10 meter.
I know this is an old thread. I've been going through my basic technique and noticed that while my arm was straight, it wasn't stretched out fully or rotated, so that the inner elbow faced the ceiling, and my shoulder rolled down. Raising my pistol has been a challenge but I think I could get used t...

Quite eye training
I've come across a few videos on quite eye training, how increasing you gaze at a set point, e.g. ball, can increase the performance. I then checked out a paper on quite eye training for 10m pistol shooters, but didn't give any exercises to improve this ability. Does anyone know anything about this ...

Re: weight lifting shoes for shooting 10M AP
Thank you everyone for you comments and advice. I have tried with no shoes and a seem to be more stable. I don't wear glasses or blinders of any type. To me it would make more sense to use barefoot shoes or even 5 toed shoes as very thin base and feedback from the ground. Weightlifting or shooting s...

Re: weight lifting shoes for shooting 10M AP
I know this is an old thread, but any up to date advice on weightlifting vs pistol shoes. I have noticed that I do sway sometimes and many shots I abandon are due to swaying. If I should get shoes is there a difference between weight lifting shoes or shooting shoes? Is there a sizing protocol? It ap...

Re: Aiming mindset
You had 19 x 10s and 30 x 9s, so a total of 49 out of 60 with the 9 ring. I say it like this as you seem to be at a similar standard to me. I've been told to stop scoring, just concentrate on every single shot, as if it is a single shot match. Or, imagine how you would shoot if you was only allowed ...

Re: Do you use a mantra to help relax?
I have a few single-word reminders . . . I have a few choice "single-word reminders" too, especially during Finals. For example: 1. [redacted] 2. [redacted] 3. [redacted] you! 4. Son-of-a- [redacted] 5. Mother [redacted] -er . . . That's what ear-pro is for . . . . Doesn't sound like you ...
