Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Again, your knowledge is invaluable, thank you, Doug. I think it's a little ridiculous that at this stage in the game we are still having to go to these lengths to get a gun running. This should have already been weeded out and taken care of at the factory years ago. I have recently been getting a n...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Hi Doug, I installed my secondary release lever yesterday and it worked a charm. No fitting required thankfully, though I did notice a slight difference between both parts. Put a few hundred rounds through it and today I broke my ejector. You can’t make this stuff up, it’s unbelievable. The whole fr...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Thanks again for the info and the suggestion of "Slide Glide".
It's likely the same video. I might consider a YouTube channel at some point.

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Hi Doug, my new BIL is already installed, and I have put through a few hundred rounds already. I will definitely try what you have suggested, though. BTW I have a video of Alessandro disassembling and reassembling the BIL in less than a minute and he did it so easily. I have his permission to share ...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Thank you, Doug. I will see how the replacement part goes and will be mindful of any fitting required. To your knowledge, will Matchguns open again? I feel the best-case scenario is for mine and my friends' guns to be sent back to Matchguns for a thorough look over and to have all issues addressed s...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Hi Doug, I think my MG2 RF EVO is possessed. I broke my secondary release lever yesterday. The break occurred at the top just below the pin that holds it in. I wonder if it has anything to do with the battering it takes when the slide runs back and hits it when cycling. I have a replacement coming, ...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Hi Doug, I noticed a crack on my BIL yesterday after approximately 2k rounds. I have ordered a replacement in the meantime. It's hard to tell if the BIL actually touches the carrier ears as it's such a fine margin, and if it is touching, by how much etc. Is it worth shaving the ears down a little an...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
A friend of mine who recently purchased an EVO Standard has put approximately 2,000 rounds through it and has broken 2x Bullet Insert Levers (BIL's) in the usual spot where the pin holds it in place. Does anyone have a similar experience and any thoughts on why this keeps happening? It seems odd tha...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Wow, that set screw looks terrible. I bought a whole bunch of set screws yesterday and will look at replacing them from time to time, even if they look okay. Cheap insurance as you say. I will also take the MG2 to my Gunsmith to look at softening those edges on the carrier pivot pin. Your insight is...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Thanks for the info and photo, Doug.
Does the set screw get damaged/chewed up from normal use of the firearm or is it purely due to removing and reinstalling the set screw to hold the pin in place that causes the damage?

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Thanks Doug, I appreciate your feedback. May I ask what you used to bevel the slide lock and is it possible for you to add a photo of it so I can look at replicating it? Only if it isn't too much hassle of course. In your video, you mentioned you take the carrier out every 2.5k rounds or so for a mo...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Hi Doug, I noticed in your videos that your parts (carrier, ejector, extractor, slide) are polished. Is that how they came, or did you polish them yourself? I picked up my EVO Rapid Fire model just over a week ago and noticed my parts were a little dull in comparison with some dark markings on them....

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
This what I used to relace the hammer spring (twice) on my MG2. Anchor the upper frame (I use an old Craftsman woodworking bench vice with wood inserts), partially remove the pin holding the spring in front, stretch the spring with the tool, push the pin back in to secure the front of the spring. D...

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
I really appreciate the info, thank you. I have a friend that will 3D print the block for me, and I’ll also look at getting those tools. The washers idea is great, thank you.
Cheers

Re: MatchGun MG2 Carrier Maintenance
Your videos are great, thank you so much. I'm waiting for my permit to pick up my brand new EVO Rapid Fire model - I live in Melbourne Australia. I haven't had much success finding information regarding the hammer spring. One of my older MG2's from a few years ago had one break and a gunsmith put a ...
