Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
Thank you Alpine! I was able to practice what you’ve described last evening. It didn’t go as well as hoped. Not the fault of your instruction, but my limitations of knowledge in this area. However, I was able to work through the different stance changes, but it took awhile with much trial and error....

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
Ok, Alpine, I went to the gun club this morning and got in 30 rounds using your description of your stance. I have to say it is quite comfortable for my 57 year old back. And, for me, it seemed to of settled my hold down a bit more. I do wonder if it’s wishful thinking. However, it was the most comf...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
Tim you always have solid advice, thank you. Now I have a new book I should purchase. The pic I posted of my rifle is informational only. I didn’t gear it up for offhand with all the appurtenances, like the palm rest. I have 2.5lbs of weight on the end of the barrel and boy did that help take most o...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
Thank you for the insight Dude, unfortunately all I have to work with right now is my 3200 24x. Yes, I shoot 4 position and have one season under my belt. I practice 3 times a week live fire and 3 times a week dry fire. Since I have access to you seasoned veterans, I have another question. I’ve been...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
Also, while I’m thinking about it, maybe all of you can help with another issue I’m having. Please let me know if I’m breaking forum protocols. I have several parts left to me, from Schuetzen style shooting, by my Dad. I would like to know if it’s “stuff” (can’t think of the proper words to use) peo...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
Thank all of you for your valuable insight and advice. I will be moving my scope back out on the barrel. Quick question, I’ve been told by some of my teammates to try to change out my Redfield for a Leupold 24x fixed efr (not quite sure the exact model) with target dot crosshair. I’ve looked online ...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
Dude, I certainly respect your position on both topics. I’ve read many of your posts and take your advice with high regard. My comment on the “a” above the serial number was purely speculative. I’m just curious. Maybe there were only 26 of these barrels manufactured and I ended up with the first one...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
Tim, your advice on the placement of the butt plate was right on…I shortened the butt about 2 inches, took most of the side to side wobble out of my hold. Also, my come down was more consistent which enabled me to time my shot with more confidence. Consequentially I shot my first 90(50ft, offhand)in...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
Thank you for the advice on the length of the butt. It’s funny you said what you did because I had it about 1.5 to 2 inches shorter when I first started shooting last year, and it felt wonderful. But then I figured I had better do the “butt-forearm “ method to be technically correct. I’m going to sh...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
I have a theory about the “A” above the serial number… I wonder if it could be a designation by Anschutz for rifles destined for high school or jrotc shooting programs? This gun was purchased by a local high school in 1979 or 1980 for their local club. The shooting club was defunded in 1982 and the ...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
It is a hex head, you are correct! I will be digging into her soon to look for the trigger designation. As for the scope observation, I hope what I’ve set up is not in poor form, something I shouldn’t have done. But as to why, it’s the only location that works efficiently for eye relief. I ran the b...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
Short story behind the scope… my Dad left it to me after he passed when I was 17, I packed it away not knowing anything about it, so when I joined this rifle league last year and started building my outfit, I pulled it out of mothballs and mounted it up! My Dad used it on a rifle my family nicknamed...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
24x redfield 3200. Crosshair but I’m looking for the dot, my team members all use the leupold and the target dot, they highly recommend it to me. I don’t know what to do as I’m new to this sport.

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
So, if I understand correctly, I have the 5071 two stage trigger which is the precursor to the 5018. If I had to replace the trigger I would have to find the 5071, the 5018 is not compatible with the bolt. Correct? Also, since I have you, I have a stock question. If I wanted to replace the stock, is...
