Air Gun Range Lead Control
Duct Seal, obtainable at your local home depot , is used by many to deaden sound and control the pellet. The only noise from shooting is the discharge of the rifle or pistol. The putty is soft absorbing the impact of the pellet therefore there is no fragmentation of lead. No lead becomes airborne. I...

TOZ parts interchangeability
Parts between the 35 and the 35m are interchangeable except as noted previously. Given the price of replacement parts, a spare is not a bad idea. The consumable critical parts such as trigger parts, firing pins, and various springs are interchangeable. Note however that each toz tang is usually a bi...

Rear sight adjustment on TOZ
If you don't have enough downward movement on the rear sight, check and see if the screw is hitting the wooden grip preventing it from going all the way down. I had to relieve the grip, just making a small hole so the elevation screw didn't hit the wood in the grip and could go all the way down. It ...

air gun resealing
Mike Archer in Lino Lakes, Minnesota on Egret Street does work on most any airgun. I believe he goes under the name of Air Gun Restoration. I have been more than satisfied with his work.

Steyr Free Pistol Use
In the falling block, there is a bar or plate that transfers the energy of the moving firing pin mechanism to the rim of the bullet. The firing mechanism is in the top of the pistol, where as the barrel chamber with cartridge is in the center of the frame hence a transfer mechanism is required. Ther...

Steyr Free Pistol Use
They are very nice pistols. Be prepared to adjust the transfer bar on occasion. It is a simple adjustment. It is not mentioned in the owner's manual but I end up adjusting it every few hundred rounds. I have been reluctant to use any loctite material on the little set screw that positions it, rather...

Sights on Free Pistol
I suggest you read Nygord on this matter. I believe he addresses it quite nicely. Light at the time on the range, age, acuity of your vision all impact on the optimal choice at the time. Most pistols come with sets of sights so the image can be varied to suit the shooter and occasion.

TOZ parts search
What a joy to find this drawing on the site. One of my parts guns is without this particular piece. I can only imagine that the wait for the part, if available at all would be months. Armed with this, fabrication seems much easier. Thanks very much.

Latch Spring and pin TOZ spares
Ahh thank you, one of mine has a broken spring and the specs provided are appreciated. If Pilkington cannot provide you with the posts and rear blades, Jocelyn of "Cibles Canada Targets" near Hull, Quebec has some as well. I suspect however that you won't be happy until you acquire a compl...

Toz spare parts "paper clips with ears?????"
When I first used that term, it did strike me as rather inelegant. Some who are a bit more literate and articulate may call them "binder clips" . They come in various sizes at your office supply store and get one that has the appropriate curve already in place. (smile)

TOZ sear spring
Alex from Duluth says you can fabricate one from a paper clip, the type with the ears and a dremel tool. The clip probablyb has a better grade of steel besides. There are several suppliers on the NA continent. I am sure our host can supply one as well.

TOZ grips.
What one thinks as a grip that fits and one that actually does may at times differ. One of the measures of a grip that fits is one that enables the force of the trigger to be in line with the barrel so as not to disturb the alignment during release. Given the light triggers on the toz, the effect of...

TOZ spares
Sear and firing pin springs, firing pin, and optional width front and rear sights are a good place to start along with the punches to push out the pins that hold the slide(breech block) and accelerator group( trigger housing) in place. A screw driver and a brush to clean out the chamber will also be...

Dating of TOZ 35s
I believe production started in or around 1959. It was probably produced for the soviet team activity in the 1960 Olympics. As it was probably scheduled for that event, it was tested, distributed before and used in training preceding that event. Or such is my surmise. Someone really needs to contact...

Dating a TOZ
I have also noted that the machined hole in the side of the receiver varies between guns. Most I have seen are rectangular in shape but some are circular. Both seem to have originated from Tula. I often wondered what the reasons were for the change in configuration. Hopefully someone will write on t...
