Re: Caring for an MG2E
Another short report by newbie from the land of the Italian pistol! I have discovered a peculiar thing. I noticed on the first day that the screw for adjusting the sights vertically has distinct clicks, while the screw for adjusting horizontally does not. I did not think of that very much at the tim...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
Most surfaces looked pretty clean. Sure, a bit used but I just wiped them off with a rag. The back of the barrel (the breech?) where the bullets go in had a bit of gunk around the opening and the back of the thing that the firing pin sits in, where the hammer strikes, was also a bit dirty. I just wi...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
If you do get the chance and time to, let me know! Would be very interesting to see the action in action, so to speak! I will report on how mine looks like inside. The plan is to head off the the shooting range tomorrow morning and after some shooting (which brings me to something like 600–700 round...

Wow, it would be extremely interesting to see those videos if you are able to post a link to them! Never thought I would be thinking about a high-speed camera to understand my hobby equipment better... :)

Re: Caring for an MG2E
Thanks again for sharing your experience, Gwhite! I'll see what I can find similar to those pointed cotton thingies in my part of the world. I think I'm soon due for a regular light cleaning; may get to that this weekend. If I do get to it and I do remember, I'll see if I can take some photos of how...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
Although I am unsure what happens during "breaking in", it does seem to have happened and I am glad for it! I will try to get some good grease soon, to use where the surfaces seem to touch when the slide cycles. I'm guessing I'll start to see those areas getting a bit polished soon, so the...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
Gwhite, I'm currently working on getting a good slide routine going and the problem has only happened once. Today I shot both Norma and some Eley Match, neither of which presented any problems. I'm wondering if my initial problems were just initial; it seems much less finicky now after a few hundred...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
Had two problems today: firstly, on the very first load, the insertion somehow failed and the whole cartridge just fell out on the bench. Bullet a little bit scratched but I fed it back in and all went well. Secondly, I somehow managed to get the hammer to fall down such that I could not move the sl...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
You are braver than me. You got the electronic version, I only got the mechanic version for my very first gun. Lol Perhaps I can be described as naïve, but not brave. I am assuming the product they sell works. If I can't believe that, I would not buy anything from that manufacturer. We shall see ho...

Re: Matchgun MG2E Electrical Problem
Great info! Ran into this today and was a bit worried. First hit on Google brought me here and a low battery indeed seems to have been the problem. Fortunately I have a spare one in the bag, but it is good to understand the quirks ahead of time. Will make a note to replace the battery with a fresh o...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
Thanks for the tips! It does require a bit more elaborate handling than others, indeed. The feeding problems I've had is on the way back: I pull the slide back to slowly, causing the cartridge to flip up. I'll try to be more confident; I'm guessing the firing will launch the slide backwards signific...

Re: Caring for an MG2E
Thanks, Gwhite, for an extensive walkthrough! So basically oil of normal viscosity on things that move in any way, but grease on higher-pressure sliding surfaces. Check! Sounds reasonable. Some people I've spoken to seem to swear by extremely thin oils, but I'm not sure I can tell them apart at this...

Caring for an MG2E
I have recently purchased an MG2E and shot a few hundred rounds through it. Now, I'm the kind of person who sees a car as a black box and want it to move from point A to B; if anything rattles, I call the workshop. However, the MG being a bit of an investment I want to treat it well and it is not fe...

Re: Shaking things up, escaping ruts, quantity training — how to stay motivated?
Great stuff. Good luck ☺ Thank you, Ramon! The struggle continues! 532 Hammerli AP20 Pro RWS Basic Sius electronic target M45 Keep shooting 😃 Went to the range today to shoot a bit with my brand new MG2E. Still figuring out which ammo it seems to like best. It is very nice to shoot with, but the ha...

Re: Shaking things up, escaping ruts, quantity training — how to stay motivated?
Ramon, it's a good point! I'm working on it, but it seems like finding a coach in my vicinity is tricky. I've reached out to a few shooters who are much better than I am, and will see what I can manage to arrange. Finding a coach is tricky almost everywhere in the planet :) And it sucks Phew, happy...

Re: Sad state of affairs
In a way, we (collectively speaking) are our own worst enemy. Consider the types of shooting ranges in this country. How many of them are set up for serious target shooting, let alone even conducive to productive practice? The vast majority are set up to accomodate the “spray & pray” blasters. ...

Re: Shaking things up, escaping ruts, quantity training — how to stay motivated?
I must say I don't find my training boring at all. I often itch to do another training session with my good old air pistol. I am very bad at doing things that are boring (some may say I lack a work ethic completely; I'm lazy!), so if I had felt boredom I would not be able to do it. With that said, i...

Thanks, Bob! Have never considered an online coach but it's possible it could work.

Re: Shaking things up, escaping ruts, quantity training — how to stay motivated?
Thanks, alpineboard, for your thoughts. What you describe is a bit of a variation of what I've done: although I "actually" shoot precision, I've started shooting almost only 20-second standard pistol in training. That makes me more forgiving of myself, because it's not really what I've tra...

Not as much feedback as I had imagined. Do my fellow shooters never find themselves stuck? ![😃](//twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/svg/1f603.svg)
