Re: Training and match couple in .22?

I am not sure if rokada will come back to this subject. But I like the way the discussion is/was moving. @Gwhite, can you please say how you think about pistol labeled rimfire in general? I would love to know more about the pistol versus standard cartridges of the same brand (in general). If I am ri...

Re: Olympic Rapidfire 2028 LA

"...I think rapid fire is an attempt to ride on the hipness of dynamic shooting, but that the effect is opposite..." Given that the Olympic Rapid Fire event goes back to 1896, maybe it is the other way round? "...The precision shooters are the best shooters on the planet..." Or ...

Re: Training and match couple in .22?

Well, I was asking about a combination for cartridges. One for training and one for matches. But, could be that not many people make a habit out of this. Of course, I'm also interested in other rimfire facts. not too powerful (not to put too much stress on the gun) @rokada Until today I don't see my...

Re: Olympic Rapidfire 2028 LA

From the 25 meter matches, I only watch (on YouTube) the 25 meter women pistol matches. I think rapid fire is an attempt to ride on the hipness of dynamic shooting, but that the effect is opposite. It takes a bit out of the essence of the sport (precision). And it scatters the sport (into less meani...

Re: Training and match couple in .22?

The shooting I do at the moment is only with a semi automatic sport pistol. I have ambition for free pistol in the future, although that's too far for me for playing a role in cartridge choice at this moment. I bought 2 boxes of Tenex (with 50pcs) almost a year ago and those are still in the closet....

Re: Training and match couple in .22?

No, I don't expect magic. Just looking for potentially good options to pick one out. For pistol shooting the cartridge is less important. Perhaps because of that that options are a bit blurred. Assuming it probably does not matter is not something that fits in the context of trying to do best I thin...

Training and match couple in .22?

I see cheaper cartridges for training as a good option. So I like the labeling principle based on quality presented in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7nH1BBUSp4 With this in mind, you don't have to think much about difference in POI or feedback. Nice to know that this exists for Eley a...

Re: Hold training

Well, hopefully I am not hijacking your topic too much Thingstodotoday, with perhaps an unwanted direction. Great, those videos Glenn! I think mainly good for people with already a lot of strength, or not having a dry fire function. In my case, just dry fire also improves strength and only with this...

Your Australian comment sooooo helpful. Postscript: Foster's Lager is kangaroo piss. That's exactly what I thought this morning. Exactly, well ok, more beer. You came home from the match. Drank as much beer as you could, to take edges of and placed a post mentioning: Meltdown Lederhosen Acid-trippi...

Re: Little Training exercise

Mental discipline can make up for many errors in technique, in my view. Trigger control and sight picture come next. "Mental discipline" can be broad I think. Do you mean with mental discipline, discipline at all those points mentioned above and take it easy the day before and the same da...

Re: Low versus normal velocity

Yes sir, I stand corrected. I was stuck in my own ideas in which I neglected the test barrel length. It's stupid because I know it has impact on the energy build up. This way the RWS ammunition seemed special with it's low velocity (based on tests with a 13 cm barrel). For the silly people like me, ...

Re: Low versus normal velocity

Hi David, Thanks a lot for sharing all the insight. With "For target shooting we need the slowest velocity to achieve the desired group, so stay sub sonic" I think you mean sonic versus sub sonic? Or literally go as slow as you can go? I see you mentioned some of the typical slow ammunicat...

Low versus normal velocity

Can you please give your opinion about low versus normal velocity for 10 and for 25 meter rimfire? For example: -Low velocity +/- 275 meter per second is always an advantage (with less recoil)? -Normal velocity +/- 330 meter per second: does higher speed have an advantage? Or is the difference in sp...

Re: How to stay in shape during holiday?

Bring a 3 pound / 1.5 kg dumbbell and do holding exercises. Aha, dumbbell, great idea. And with slow (vertical I think you meant) figure-8's perhaps it could also improve the dexterity a bit needed for correction? Here's a drill I posted some time back. I think it's perfect for you. https://targett...

How to stay in shape during holiday?

Hi, Let's say you want to stay in the best shape. What would be the best way to keep the strength when going on a holiday for a week tilll a month? This while bringing along the gun is not an option (due to customs/regulations etc.)? What do you think? Is strength just a small aspect of pistol shoot...

Re: Air shutter Baikal IZH-46M never opens after initial pump

If you do a search on "pellet seaters', there have been quite a few marketed over the years. I have one of these buried somewhere: https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2006/12/beeman-pell-seat-does-it-work/ Lots of people used to use the pointed cap from a cheap Bic pen... I like the idea of having...

Re: High and I can't set the Baikal IZH 46M any lower

My IZH46M came with two rear sights (you turn it over) and three front sights. Careful the rear sight screws turn backwards. No necro bumping intended. But, for other people reading this. Might be good to add some nuance. I also received extra front and rear sights. But the do not vary in height. O...

So, this could be my last post for this topic. About the shutter that won't open after the first pump problem. I ordered other lead free pellets. Close to my home I could not find a webstore at which I could order JSB match. But I got: JSB Exact H&N Match Green RWS Hyperdome Don't expect too muc...

Re: Air shutter Baikal IZH-46M never opens after initial pump

They are talking about the color of the "tin" can the pellets come in, not the material the pellets are made out of. All the pellets listed in that article are made of lead. ai, I'm ashamed! Thanks G for pointing out. Sorry, this is that stupid, that it probably be better to remove. But a...
