Re: Hammerli 208 trigger adjustments
The upper one is for pre-travel, out is less, in is more. The lower one is pull weight. Out is less, in is more. There's also a sear spring weight adjustment screw in the magwell, at the upper rear. In is more, out is less. Overtravel is set with a hidden screw accessible when the trigger guard is ...

Hammerli 208 trigger adjustments
I have a Hammerli International 208 (not s). I was wondering what kind of trigger adjustments are possible. The only screws I see anywhere are 2 on the trigger itself. I'm guessing one is for over travel adjustment. Does the other one adjust pull weight? I am having a tough time finding anything out...

Re: shooing high/right even after I spot my shots.
1. Why do you change your grip between targets? That seems a recipe for otherwise unexplainable misses. 2. Gaze at this image: 2542bba5f8c81676b749195676963c4f.jpg I don't change my grip on purpose. But I have to put then gun down to reload. I've always been a little bit skeptical of those diagrams...

shooing high/right even after I spot my shots.
I've been shooting in an informal online competition where we use A23/5 targets. I tend to shoot the top one OK but for some reason when I get to the ones on the right, I almost always shoot way off to the right and high. In one case I shot a group small enough to clean the 10 ring but the whole thi...

Re: Hammerli 208
Well it's mine now and I've shot a few hundred rounds. I can't see any signs of any cracks and it looks to be in good shape. I'm a bit disappointed in the grip though. It's pretty uncomfortable, but maybe I just need to get used to it.
I definitely think I need the weight, maybe a pretty heavy one.

Re: Hammerli 208
Thanks all for the input. Fortunately I do know not to use HV ammo and I think this pistol was imported so it probably belonged to someone who also knew that since most shooting in Europe is more club oriented. I had a look at it today and it looked to be in good shape but I couldn't disassemble it ...

Re: Hammerli 208
Well I bought the one I was looking at on gunbroker. It should be arriving at my local dealer tomorrow. Any tips on how I can best inspect it for cracks before I start the paperwork? The seller assured me it didn't have any but I might as well do what I can to check it out.

Re: Hammerli 208
I'd never heard of this until internet forum hyperbole came along. Perhaps I've seen a photo or two of an isolated case, but I'm not even sure of that. The 208 and 208s are still very much in demand, particularly for American "2700" bullseye shooting. So, thry're still getting full use de...

Hammerli 208
I'm thinking of buying a Hammerli 208 on GB or maybe from some online importer (wherever I get it from I won't be able to inspect it first). I've heard that they have a known issue with the frames cracking. How common is this? It is inevitable? The way some people talk about it, it sounds like it's ...

Re: New memer, question about wind effect on bullets
Here's some wind videos for smallbore from Heinz Reinkemeier https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_xCBD9hQSo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEk1J8h1AX4 For fullbore I'd recommend the wind book for rifle shooters by Miller and Cunningham. By the way, with regards to wind effects, not everything transfe...

Re: New memer, question about wind effect on bullets
Thanks for the recommendation. I might pick that up at some point, but I am not really trying to learn how to read the wind right now though... I have bigger problems for the time being, like being able to shoot consistently when there's no wind! I don't have access to a long distance range and the ...

Re: New memer, question about wind effect on bullets
You misunderstood, my friend. I suggested watching the bullet trace in enough wind so that you could see where the most deflection occurred. Wind causes issues at all yard lines. I think that if I watch the flags downrange and you watch the close ones we’ll have it covered, right? Good luck and gre...

Re: New memer, question about wind effect on bullets
If you want to make sense out of the debate on whether wind close to the shooter or farther downrange affects the projectile more, consider the following to make your own conclusion. From listening to the expert ballisticians, the ballistic coefficient (BC) of a projectile gets lower as the velocit...

Data logging
I'm really interested in being able to see logs and graphs of exactly what I'm doing when I shoot. I've always felt that shooting groups to test out some change in technique is crude. The amount of variables I can't control means that I have to shoot an awful lot to be certain that something I've ch...

New memer, question about wind effect on bullets
Hi, this is my first post here. I've been looking for a forum where I can learn more about precision shooting, not specifically Olympic stuff but just general principles. I hope this is the right place to post questions like this. I found this video (timestamped link below) from a Biathlon coach, bu...
