Ireland

Perhaps not a "huge" topic. Can anyone point us to ranges, or competitions in Ireland?

We go back, and forth between the US and Ireland and it is difficult to find consistent opportunities to shoot, other than in our barn.

Re: Stance

So few responses.

We are using a 90 degree stance...I am not sure it is the best...I am self trained.

I think that is the place to start, though.

Re: Tinted glasses for pistol shooting

Old post...I know. My question-- If one practices in a dark barn would tinted lenses help when shooting at correctly lighted ranges? It seems to make sense to me. If so, what tint? There are so many colors. +++ How does one determine what shade to use, at each range?+++ I am thinking shooting in our...

I think the lights you describe would burn down our barn.

Re: Shooting Range Setup - Basement

I had not thought about light on the firing line. Without it I suppose a "light tunnel" could be created that would aide one shooting in the barn, but harm their aim shooting at an actual range. Interesting.

Re: Shooting Range Setup - Basement

Thank you for this information. We are shooting in an old barn, using discarded boards for a place to hang our targets and hay bales to balance them on. It seems to work. We make our targets out of cardstock. Using Woodies spray paint to create the black, on each- it works. Our biggest problem is li...

I see lots of shooters who will re-grip the pistol after every shot, or get out of position frequently, and then have to get their position back (give the take....).
For those that do get out of position often/change grip, is there a way to get a consistent position/grip each time?

Re: How do you stop beginners from obsessing over the sub 6 hold?

Along with the question about beginners mind…would it be beneficial to stop worrying about where the shots group, to start? And worry more about the grouping, to perfect the hold?

Re: Interpreting Targets — Rings of 9s

It sounds like you are shooting 540, or better most days. I generally shoot 8, or better. When I do not- I shoot 6/7's at 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock. I do not think it involves a triggering issue, or a sighting issue,...but a timing issue. I think I wait too long to take the shot...leading to small err...

Re: RWS R 10 Match Pellets Availability

Whizzz is in the UK, and prefers 4.49 head size pellets as a known commodity. Some pellets are hard to find, now, including here in Ireland. Is this a supply issue, or something else?

She grew up around shooting. Her dad and brothers competed, and hunted. She says she never had any interest, though, and still does not.

It seems the AP20 is a good choice for our son and daughter. Once a buyer reaches the cost of the AP20Pro, it seems an Lp500 would be a better choice.

22 target pistol or rifle

I am thinking of taking up target shooting, along with my children. Should I choose 22 pistol, or rifle? Perhaps air pistol, or air rifle? Why? I have no experience with any of the above.

Anyone ever used both?
