there was an issue this year in cycling, my other sport, about equipment dimensions. a rule went into effect in the middle of the season that restricted certain items on the bikes, just in time for the mechanics to rush around swapping parts a few days before the tour de france. and you know who mad...

i am under the impression that most prone-only shooters (at least at the world-class level) will use a single stage trigger. i think i would do the same, except that i am a 3p shooter and single stage triggers in standing and kneeling would be bad news; i am through the (very light) first stage befo...

scott shaffer made a good manual a while ago. http://www.gunsnot.com/pdfs/scatt manual 02-18-03.pdf he explains basic setup and tweaking the thing, then goes on to the graphs and trace values and how to interpret them. and make sure you copy and paste all of that url because it went crazy, and yes t...

my father had this problem in smallbore; the problem was he had lost diopters at close range (accommodation) and couldn't focus on the front sight when it was 32 inches away. he put a 10-inch extension tube on the gun and now the problem is gone. which brings me to question #1, if you don't mind me ...

time for some homework. step 1: download the SCATT program, it's 2mb http://www.scatt.com/support.htm step 2: go to the FTP site where others have dumped their trace files http://ematch.scatt.com/download/ select a few to download, esp. abhinav bindra and dick boschmann, and run them in the scatt pr...

so this will create confusion... the eley sport i am referring to is in a purple box with a yellow star. that stuff is made (supposedly) by aguila. the new eley sport round in the green box in europe and on the eley website is the same round as the eley target in the us. that stuff shoots, but is tw...

from what i understand eley sport is not a target shooting round. i've never tried it myself, because i've only heard horror stories about accuracy. correct me please, but i think eley sport is actually made by aguila in mexico. i shot aguila subsonic in my rifle when i first got it and it hardly he...

second on issf tv. it's a wealth of information on position, technique, equipment choices and proper setup, and all kinds of little details. if you have firefox, find an add-on called Video Download Helper so you don't have to use the annoying embedded player.

center line of barrel to center line of sight may be 60 mm max., usually you can put up to about 30mm of extra rise from normal height.

i am a cross-country runner and bicycle racer and i don't think i would be shooting the scores that i shoot if it weren't for my physical fitness. to answer your question, i've not heard any studies that proved bulk muscle hinders fine motor skills. still, i would stay away from big weights and conc...

when you realize how many points you are losing because of all the movements. i can equate it to my progress through smallbore; i shot the hell out of my program's marlin 2000s before switching to the winchester 52, then shot that thing to its potential before going to free rifle. i guess the bottom...

the book with bindra all over it is Air Rifle Shooting. don't anyone forget that gaby is bindra's coach. i'm not sure why anyone would think that showing the best shooter in the world in a reference book about shooting would be a scam to sell more books. would you be inclined to read a reference boo...

how upright is your position? i change little things in my kneeling frequently and one thing that reduces my pulse is being upright. it comes at the cost of not being as hunkered down, which i like, so my position is very compact from front to back. maybe tomorrow i'll post a pic.

i drew a picture of Torsten Krebs' position from the book Air Rifle Shooting because it shows a good static position with all the basics. take note of the hip position; they should tilt upward toward the target, and this (at least from my experience) will be the main influence of weight distribution...

you should try taking the thing off first like peepsight said. i use a palm-up position similar to matt emmons and it is very stable, though it will feel very weird at first. i keep the wrist mostly under the rifle... too far to the side doesn't offer enough support for me. be careful with making yo...

i use an anti-glare tube for the bright sun because my iris is narrow anyway (1.2ish) and in the sun it would need to be about 0.8. as for your eye problem, i experience the same thing if i strain my eye too much. and it happens very quickly, after about 10 shots. it's similar to trying to read a bo...
