Re: Training and match couple in .22?
I was told that rifle and pistol cartridges use different powder. Rifles using "slower burning" powder since the projectile spends more time in the long barrel and you don't need to front load all the acceleration in the first 10cm.

Re: Olympic Rapidfire 2028 LA
If I was allowed to decide that than yeah, more or less. Maybe make it 30 but as five shots in five minutes each or so. Or at least make the qualification relevant. I liked the old format where in addition to the 60 shots you added 10 finals shots. Back then the finals world records were also still ...

Re: Olympic Rapidfire 2028 LA
I think the direct competition thing is true. One of the few somewhat watched shooting events I know of are the Liga thing that exists in Germany. Teams of five but every shooter has a direct opponent from the other team. What's interesting there is that the actual program is just a regular 40 shot ...

Re: Olympic Rapidfire 2028 LA
Even then it's hard. I think "show don't tell" applies here too. The commentary still needs to teach you something you can then observe yourself. It takes quite some times for actual participants in the sport to be able to digest said intricacies when just explained.

Re:
I'll accept if I'm in the minority here but I find watching the ISSF competitions pretty nice. Yeah it's not as much of a spectacle as other sports but if you pay attention you can definitely see the athletes work through the psychological pressure, and it's neat to see different holds, techniques ...

Re: Olympic Rapidfire 2028 LA
But that seems to be OK, while the sportive use of a firearm is not so appreciated? Something it's hard to understand. I don't think it has anything to do with social acceptance really. Biathlon clearly doesn't have that issue. I like to joke that if you were to intentionally make a sport that is t...

Re: Olympic Rapidfire 2028 LA
I'm in Switzerland where every other village has a RFP capable 25m range. Yet participation is so low that we pretty much autoqualify for national championships just by showing up. So I'm basing this on this observation that somehow in the entire country (which had Olympic medalists in this event in...

Re: Olympic Rapidfire 2028 LA
And that matters a lot for the sport. Really? I strongly disagree with this mindset of making decision for the entire sport based on the like 15 minutes of coverage this gets every four years... in the summary segment. Even with the social media boost at the last Olympics every non-shooting person ...

Re: weight lifting shoes for shooting 10M AP
I tried both. Weightlifting and shooting shoes are similar in the sense that their soles are not squishy. I eventually decided I like the flat soles over the raised heels. But both worked well. It's very much a preference thing.

Re: Olympic 10m which pistols?
I'd really like to see the statistics on the "additional point of failure" thing. For one I think it's just not true. Go read some threads about issues people have with mechanical trigger pistols and notice how often people talk about the "sear" or "sear engagement" the...

Re: Olympic 10m which pistols?
I suspect that compared to an LP2 most top of the line long models will feel front heavy. The Pardini the most, the Morini probably the least.

Re: Olympic 10m which pistols?
Just be careful to not buy the grip. I always get the twitches when someone buys a gun because "it fit like a glove". Grips are meant to be adjusted and molded to you which can be done with any brand. Buying a gun off the grip is like trying a couple of peoples glasses and then buying the ...

Re: New Top Tier Air Pistol Recommendations
I have a CM200EI with the gyro feature (two actually... for reasons) and don't find it very useful. The way it is currently exposed it just gives you a fairly coarse "shakiness" metric without any directional information. Apart from that the Morini is great and I never had issues with the ...

Re: How do you stop beginners from obsessing over the sub 6 hold?
Along with the question about beginners mind…would it be beneficial to stop worrying about where the shots group, to start? And worry more about the grouping, to perfect the hold? That would be very beneficial. It just takes a while for beginners to accept that it seems. Even on blank targets they ...

Re: Air pistol with most grip adjustment?
The P8X has probably the highest "range" but all of them remain pretty steep with the factory grips (Steyr probably the least). The adjustments are really more for fine tuning than for fundamentally changing the position. The "correct" thing to do is to customize the grip itself ...

Re: Waiting for special order
I would have thought that an increase in interest in the sport after the Olympics would have made more guns available on the secondary market Wouldn't you expect the exact opposite? As in the people already in the sport selling gear doesn't suddenly increase. But the demand from new people would em...

Re: 25m RFP Proposed changes
This strikes me as a bit of a rigged vote. Given that RFP is currently an Olympic event, a lot of the male ISSF members probably have a significant training, equipment & time investment in RFP. In terms of Olympic pistol shooters, the only other men would be air pistol competitors, who may not ...

Re: 25m RFP Proposed changes
I do believe that it makes the sport more accessible to those who have regular ranges to them in the U.S. I am sure that internationally this is not going to probably go over well I'm not sure if by "internationally" you mean in other countries or in international competitions (as in top ...
