Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
I got some new glasses on the way, one for my current prescription and the other with a +0.50 diopter boost (the optician did not recommend +0.75 for me) In the meantime, I had a great practice session on Saturday- only had 2 6s out of the 70 shots I did. I felt more focused on the front sight and m...

Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE JAN 2022
Not really set under match conditions, but yesterdays session was the best I've done so far since starting last December :)

How do I make friends at the range?
I'm not the most talkative guy, and when I'm at the range I get even quieter as I try my best to concentrate. Things get a little lonely however, so how do I meet new friends at the range without disturbing their trainings?

Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
One problem is that people worry about how far below the black to hold, and instead of picking something and getting consistent at it, they "hunt around" and keep looking at the target. If you think about it, varying your point of aim by +/- a ring should still put all your shots inside t...

Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
You don't need fancy shooting glasses, but adding roughly +0.75 Diopters to your vision will help you stay focused on the front sight over the course of a match. Depending on your vision situation, there are safety glasses & clip-on lenses that you can use to get started without going all out f...

Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
10:00 shots for a lefty are most likely to be from tensing your grip in anticipation of the shot. Your last target has a VERY narrow horizontal spread, but a lot of vertical variation. That means your grip is getting more consistent, but there's something going on with your sighting. Questions: 1) ...

Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
Today marks 1 month of pistol shooting, and today I finally learnt an important lesson: a good, consistent trigger release leads to a good shot, most of the time. I saw more 8s and 9s which is a good sign of progress and next time I go to the range, ill definitely emphasize on smoother trigger pull ...

Shooting goals for the new year
Happy new year guys! With a new year comes new goals to set for ourselves for pistol shooting, so lets share our goals for this year! My goals for this year are: - get most shots in the 8 ring - develop a consistent shot routine - obtain a gradual, smooth trigger control - (hopefully) score at least...

Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
An unlucky day today at the range... I found out that I accidentally made duplicate bookings at the range today, so I lost some money :/ The club is down to one left handed pistol, and unfortunately the person using the pistol was of a different height and stature than me, so the sights he had set w...

Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
Im back! Today was an off day so I managed to spend the whole day at the range. Caught up with a previous coach of mine who told me more about shot process. He suggested to slow down and control the movement of the pistol from the top to my aiming area, while mantaining an increase in pressure on th...

Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
Your last target has several high shots. I suspect you were tiring, and forgetting to stay focused on the front sight. I can recommend two things: 1) Put an orange chalk mark on your front sight to help keep your focus there. 2) Investigate adding correction to your vision. +0.5D or +0.75D will mov...

Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
My third training session today; came in with the intention of getting a consistent surprise shot by 1. focusing on front sight and 2. constant pressure on trigger. Here are some of the targets im proud of: https://i.imgur.com/7KrRg7s.jpg https://i.imgur.com/t2yr8dg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zB5u68n.j...

Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
Oh another question- since I don't have a gun and I cant bring a gun back home, what will be the best way for me to dryfire? So far I am using 1kg weights for improving endurance, but I'm sure there are other ways to practice other aspects of pistol shooting at home without one!

Re: First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
I just got my second session done, and here is a link to some of the target cards I shot over the past two sessions: https://imgur.com/gallery/WKaBYUY Some things I realised: - Todays session resulted in alot more flyers landing in the 2 or 3 ring towards the top of the target. My ex coach, who was ...

First ever pistol target from a rifle shooter
Hello all! I'm a 19M, left handed left sighted shooter who has shot air rifle for 4 years, and as of yesterday I am shooting air pistol as 1.) it is less straining on my lumbar area and 2.) much cheaper. I went for my clubs' introductory course yesterday, and we had the chance to shoot a few shots i...
