What is follow through?

What constitutes good follow-through after a shot? Is the ability to "call a shot" an adequate measure of good follow-through? If you can see your pellet moving and the perforation is that adequate or is there some other magical measure of follow through? Or do you have to hold on for 6 se...

Re: What makes a AP "kick"?

I spend a lot of time and pellets searching for the answer to this.
The worst of my "kicks" seem to be related to my trigger pull (I am shooting an AV 46M). I get a lot of upward kicks, but then I get a lot of nice 10s from the same gun.
Keep practicing!

Re: What makes a AP "kick"?

And yet it kicks!
There must be some additonal force causing the upward kick. Perhaps the impact of the hammer on the release valve?
Or is it all flinch and trigger jerk?

Re: Cleaning walnut grips

I used Watco Rejuvenating oil on my grips. I used an old toothbrush on the checkering of my K22 grips. I then wiped off all I could. It takes about 3 days after that so they don't feel oily. In contrast, as much as I like the Rink fit, they are slimy out of the package, and for two weeks afterwards...

Re: Proper lubrication?

This problem comes up regularly. Super-Lube is a brand, and they make both silicone & non-silicone lubricants. To make matters more confusing, they also use different part numbers for the same stuff in different packaging. You want the non-silicone synthetic grease. For the amounts you will nee...

Sorry I did not clarify earlier. The silicone variety acts like scouring powder on metal.
Superlube PN 21030 is exactly what I quoted from above. You are using silicone grease!

Proper lubrication?

I feel confident in the proper way to lubricate metal to metal joints, but lubrication of cylinders, cups and seals has me concerned. I now have three guns that quit holding pressure in quick order (Beeman P17, AV V-10 & AV 46M). Two stopped holding air shortly after I applied Crosman Silicone O...

Re: New to 10m (and AP in general)

I think the term here is "to necro an old thread"; I have had a couple of jumps in my shooting scores. One was when I got a much better gun (an AV 46M). Another was when I watched a few high level competition shooters on YouTube. Unfortunately, the video photographers are trying to capture...

Re: Gamo compact top scores

I own a V10, which is the current version of the Gamo Compact. I was shooting an average of 373 with my V10 (over 27 sets of 60). Since upgrading to a IZZY/AV 46M I jumped up to a 475 average (I only have had it a week). But a word of warning: When I went back to my V10 I was shooting 435! Apparentl...

Re: Trigger settings?

Our host has info on a wide range of pistols. Here's the entry for the IZH-46: http://www.pilkguns.com/tenp/spizh46.htm Unfortunately, the link for the diagram is busted. Here's a file I have that should help: How to adjust IZH46 Trigger Instructions.pdf This is what I was looking for! What would a...

Re: Trigger settings?

The handle was missing its attachment screw, which coincidentally was the same as a Shimano SPD pedal screw. The front sight block was falling off! Even the front sight attachment screw was loose. Actually I was grateful, as I got a $50 discount just for snugging down a few screws. The front sight i...

Trigger settings?

I have a recently purchased AV/IZZY 46M. My own pistol was a discounted "reconditioned" or returned gun, but apparently the reconditioning missed loose and missing screws and I don't know what might have been done to the trigger. I like the trigger, it is crisp and light, but there is no f...

Re: pellet consumption

I have a AV V-10 (updated version of Gamo Compact) and have put a few thousand pellets through it. There is a clear difference between dry firing and live firing. Live firing produces a noticable upward kick that I have been trying to control with little luck. Dry firing doesn't do this. I have seen...

Re: Air Venturi V10 Users?

Although both the V10 and 1377 are pumpers, they are not in the same level of precision and power. Years ago, I had the predecessor of the Air Venturi V10, (Gamo Compact) the main reason I sold it was because it was anemic in power, and when dry firing the pistol many times, the brittle plastic pos...

Re: Air Venturi V10 Users?

On my old Gamo Compact I put some lead weights in the recess under the barrel. I find it just as capable as anything else I've shot. The trigger needs a fettle but considering the cost they're amazing pistols. I was considering doing this. There is a space near the muzzle that I could fit a lead we...

Air Venturi V10 Users?

I recently purchased an Air Venturi V10 and I have been trying to improve my scores. I have made grip improvements and a few other tuning changes but my scores haven't yet risen much over my Crosman 1377 scores. I do suspect that this gun tends to kick up, but I don't know how common or serious this...
