I responded to your post above, and posted the best picture I have of the assembly (tho the spring is broken off in that picture).

Do you have the tiny screw which goes through the bent piece of metal, through the spring, through the little plastic post/spacer and then into the trigger frame?

In my case the 'plastic post' is better described as a plastic spacer which a tiny screw goes through.

I do understand the mechanism now, but the interrelation of the 'middle lever spring', the 'prop' and the 'middle lever' wasn't obvious until I took it apart and examined it for a while.

I've already replaced my sear spring long ago with a paperclip - which is still fine today!

I don't see that I can replace the middle lever spring with a paperclip tho - I need a wider spring so it doesn't fall off the lever.

Thanks @pbrejsa, I don't have a tape measure I'm willing to sacrifice to the cause, but I've got a ton of little sheet metal paperclips so I'm going to see if I can do something with one of them. If nothing else it'll be a learning experience!
