Melted some down into small (50g) weights for modelmakers. However a bit tedious and certainly not a sufficient demand!
Found a metal recycler nearby who pays GBP1 per kilo. Better than disposing of it needlessly/carelessly.

Re: Advice regarding foresight and rearsight for a beginner on an LGR
That's really helpful Tim, thank you. Your comment about a slightly larger element resonates with me - today I dd observe a degree of 'fuzziness' on the perimeter of the bull as it was pretty coincident with the ring. The more i concentrated the more they merged...! I like the idea of perspex elemen...

Advice regarding foresight and rearsight for a beginner on an LGR
I have been fortunate to acquire an immaculate Walther LGR. It has original Walther rear diopter sight and what appears to be an Anschütz foresight tunnel attached to the dovetail. The foresight has a 0.5 diopter magnification lens so far as I can tell by the markings, which is on the rear side of t...

Re: Walther LGR - diopter sight question
Brilliant, thank you both.
No glass - correct! Sorry, I perhaps should have looked more carefully!
Cleaned with cotton bud and all is good! Was very dusty and hence it was distracting the view even with only a pinhole.

Re: Walther LGR - diopter sight question
Tim - it't not a Gehman. Here it is.
it's the knurled eye ring I need to undo to access the glass.

Re: Walther LGR - diopter sight question
Thanks Tim, It is an original Walther sight.
The eyepiece has a knurled larger ring and where it swages down to meet the moving part of the sight, it appears to go up against a small ring with two flats on it.
It does suggest that the bell-shaped pinhole eyepiece unscrews. Perhaps it's just stuck..?

RWS R10 Match pellets - rifle vs. pistol
I have a LOT of RWS R10 match pellets for pistol use. Having just acquired a LGR, I'm testing it at 10m using the 'pistol' pellets. I appreciate the rifle pellets are slightly heavier (0.53g vs. 0.43g), but/and should I use these instead of the pistol ones before getting too far 'set up' with my rif...

Walther LGR - diopter sight question
Can anyone tell me how to open the rear sight to clean the rear of the lens?
I can clean the front of the lens but not sure how to get to the rear - i.e. which is through the pinhole. There's dust on it!
I'm hoping it unscrews, but don't want to damage something by trying the wrong process.
Thanks.

Ah, clever re the air advance, which makes better sense. Thanks for feedback, you confirm what I suspected.

Any advice re an LP5?
A friend is looking to acquire a reasonably-priced match pistol, and has seen a 2003 boxed LP5. As he is a recreational shooter the 5-shot mech appeals. Is there anything specific to consider on this model when buying s/h, aside obvious checks for air leaks and so on? It does come with 3 cylinders s...

Re: Solution For Tearing Target Holes / Tear Drops?
FWIW putting masking tape on the back has proved a bad idea for me - the next pellets cause large pieces to rip out. I think the comment made elsewhere about target papers with short fibres makes sense - and masking tape gives you the longest fibres you could ask for!

Re: Best pellet redux...
I believe that you're right - the quotes should make such a phrase searchable without it tripping the 'too common' alarm.
I'm no IT expert but I suspect that you can add certain character sets, such as .177 .22 etc to the exclusion list.

Re: Best pellet redux...
I may be wrong, but it might be possible for the Admins to set the phpBB to allow "exact phrase search'' which would then allow users to enclose an expression in quote to search for it, not just any of the constituent words. This post provides some details: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewt...

I really don't know why some people on this site are so negative about someone offering guidance.
If it's not useful TO YOU, then why not STFU and keep your comments to yourself?

Re: Choosing EVO10 colour - aside personal preference...?
I will post the target at some point for the 92. By contrast I have a PX-4 storm and yes I could achieve greater accuracy throwing the pellets. Blowback plinker I agree there... Just to be clear, the blue bull is about 20/25mm diameter so perhaps that misled you regarding the accuracy. Of course the...

Thanks both.
Am using a dab of silicone now, and will keep running it at ca. 150bar where it is completely happy.
It is well out of date so I’ve ordered a spare in case.

Re: Choosing EVO10 colour - aside personal preference...?
As a "complete amateur", you might want to consider something cheaper while you're experimenting. Say a LP1, or even something more advanced such as a SSP, where you don't need to contemplate expensive air sources. OK well, perhaps 'complete amateur' was a little pessimistic, but I was in...
