Re: Sell your old PYTHON - Now!

wish I still had my old 2 1/2" Python, bought in the early 70's in Germany with hindsight and a lot of handling of other guns in the meantime, I can only say that those pieces were pieces of art! (engineering-wise) But then, I also sold others, like the best ever made center fire target pistol ...

Re: Is TOZ-35 free floated, does it matter ?

yes, of course it matters! - ask any free-pistol shooter from that time! Most 'free pistol' 50m pistols had a free barrel anyway - (no wood around it touching the barrel !) been a long time now! - but that's what I remember Most free pistols that I remember were more or less 'clear barrel' But it's ...

Re: Anschutz Carrier Column Lock Nut

can't answer that particular question, but would be surprised if Anschutz had used anything else than 'metric' threads! is this perhaps an 'aftermarket' addition? otherwise, is the thread sufficiently 'worn' that it might accept something close? I usually make my own bolts (nuts if absolutely necess...

Re: Mystery Grip Identification

for the good old ISU single handed target shooting - the hammer is cocked with your left hand! Top shooters would have them made to fit their shooting hand! the idea is - you have the gun in the same position in your hand every time - like a glove - aids accuracy! difficult to tell what make the are...

Re: New targets - 50m Bench Rest UK

Hi Gerry, you need a photo-editing program! There should be one in win10 (although I haven't looked for it yet, as I'm using my old 'photodraw' from win xp days! - only one I ever mastered) As I've found out the hard way, here you can only post pics with a max of about 500KB Your phone pic will like...

Re: New targets - 50m Bench Rest UK

Hi I attach a pic of a practice target shot this morning to show the point of my question. shot with SK Flatnose Match (Lapua Center X might produce a slightly smaller group for me) Left bull a nice group - move to the right bull - everything else the same, look what happened! Must be the shooter (m...

Re: New targets - 50m Bench Rest UK

Hi Gerry, yes, an old Anschutz 54 Super Match (as was) 1410 in a BR50 stock with a 32x50 target scope using the Anschutz 'Set Trigger' and have tightened up the Headspace - shoots better that I can! I'm 73 now and share your sentiments - hehe Can really only shoot sitting down nowadays, so BR suits ...

Hi from my Sierra ballistics calculator: a .22 bullet of 40gr at 1050ft/sec, zeroed at 100yds, scope hight 2", gives the following values: 26yds - + 2" 50yds - + 3.75" 85yds - + 2" 100yds - zero should give you a rough idea! Can't copy the page from the program - must be protecte...

Hi Gerry sorry, I thought I had answered your earlier post! Must be 'fat finger' syndrome! - hehe I completely agree with your sentiments! New targets - 50m Bench Rest UK

Hi all, there is talk that the NSRA (UK) is going to change the 50m bench rest targets from the 2 bulls per card (5 shots on a 'bull') to something close to the US targets with 10 bulls per card ( 1 shot per 'bull') Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, NO sighting 'bulls' on the card though! The siz...

Re: SK Flat Nose Match ammo

I use SK Flatnose Match and Lapua CenterX in my Anschutz M54 (1410) with good results! Can't make up my mind whether SK FN Match is not just as good as CenterX ! SK & Lapua are made in Germany by the same company! (Nammo Schonebeck GmbH) although I understand on different machines. I don't know ...

Re: Anschutz Modell 1411/1413 Match 54

No idea, really - just trying things out with my new Kenyon trigger! Somewhere on this here interweb is a pic of a handwritten note by Karl Kenyon advising his customer to tighten action bolts to about 60 inch/lbs - that is about 6.8 Nm So I tried that (yes, laminated wood stock) and the groups seem...

Alexander, HeHe! I think that the dungheap you refer to will be rapidly cleaned up after the UK finally gets out of this European Socialist Club! I say this as a German national (well - born there, but I have a more 'International' outlook now, as you might have noticed) But all this doesn't really ...

Re: On the horns of a dilemma...

Rover, that's not very funny! there is an extraordinary large number of knife-murders here in the UK nowadays. Which on the other hand proves that the NRA is correct in their assumption that 'guns don't kill people; people do!' a criminal who wants to kill someone will use anything he can get his ha...

Re: On the horns of a dilemma...

If we could still have handguns here in the UK, I would rip your arm off for one of your two .38 P240's!! I had one of the very early ones, bought just after they came out in late 74/early 75? - bought directly from the manufacturers. the serial no was 200482 if I remember correctly. (yes, it was - ...

Re: Video on constructing a pistol grip

Hello Stephen, yes, Bowler grips were good - the advantage I had was that I only made grips for guys/girls who were actually there, so I could fit to the individual hand instead of working from 'hand-outline drawings'! So you could 'tweak' the grip to the individual to get to an 'intuitive' aiming l...
