Re: Coaching Corner
Wrist stability and grip. Trigger "control" (if there's something like that) will follow automatically. Wrist stability is the thing that gives confidence and a repeatable muscle memory. Everything else is more or less individual (although I agree there are things that will work for a larg...

Re: Hammerli Free Pistols
I'm not sure if your thinking of quality and mine are the same, BUT my TOZ is stone reliable. It might lack the cosmetics of the the rest of the pistols, but they are very forgiving to shoot, and have many redeeming quality's. They have two simultaneous build qualitys happening at the same time. Wh...

Re: .22 Short Rapid Fire - Which has the better reputation?
Accuracy was pretty much all over the place with those pistols, but it did not really matter that much. Reliability was a different issue, but any RF pistol that was "improved" enough would have a time when it worked, and then a period of ´¬¢¢¬°#¬§@§#¬! The Walther was seen as pretty good ...

Re: Hammerli 208: Buying Tips
You can get a nice 3rd series 208, or a 208S (same trigger, except that the S is adjustable in length) for less than €400 here in Europe, but that is obviously a different market. All of the above, but honestly for that sort of price I would be looking at a Pardini or AW93. :-) Comparing a Pardini t...

Re: Hammerli 208: Buying Tips
IMO, toolkit and box are nice to have, but not necessary. If you don't got for 208S, look for a third series 208 with the newer trigger system. There were several different trigger systems, and the last one before the S model is significantly better than the older ones. You can tell by the first sta...

Re: wood sculptures (grips)
I'd rather study the other side of the grips than the rulebook... Wonder who studied whom, between Vito and Ralf Schumann, seems to be the same idea of positioning the hand and use the thumb. Interesting that some people assume others to have ignored the rules, even when looking at the work of the g...

Re: Center fire 25m competition pistols
Yes, 60445 is one of the famous "Nationalmannschafts-SIG" (National Team SIG, called that since Doebeli's book in the early 80s). It's a HF, and the rear sight and the trigger are different from the normal production. Some of those guns have two screws securing the trigger, the one at the ...

Re: Center fire 25m competition pistols
Any P210 will shoot well with copper plates H&N bullets, which count as "lead" under ISSF. And you can shoot them in the standard barrel, no problem as long as you're not loading to extensive speeds. The lead barrel is for the really soft stuff. We're even using the copper plated lead ...

Re: Hammerli 104 Olympic Free Pistol
Collector's condition in Europe (there is a small market for free pistols, and for Hammerli pistols) would fetch maybe € 400, if complete with case, manual etc. and in mint condition. Otherwise Ruig is right. Otoh, the US market seems quite crazy in this regard.

Re: Rink Grips for Steyr LP1/LP5/LP10 Question
It very much depends on the angle of the grip on the frame, and the adjustments screws on your Steyr. Most grips have a similar amount of wood between frame and hand, so if you mount it flush along the back on the frame, it will be similar. Almost nobody I know puts the grip in full contact with the...

Re: Reliability of Pardini Sp and Match Guns MG4
Off-topic, but yeah, MG3 was the .22 short. AFAIK no real production run, although I've got one that does not have that prototype look. Doesn't work all that well and can't hold a candle to the late series Pardini RF pistols of that time, a nicely tuned GPS or Schumann Special will shoot the socks o...

Re: Reliability of Pardini Sp and Match Guns MG4
The "Rio 2016" is no new evolution of the MG2, just a marketing gag by some guy in Canada. It's mechanically the same as every other latest series MG2. Hate to say it though, but if you want no hassles, can't beat the Pardini (from the current crop of pistols). Matchguns is a fanstastic de...

Re: Steyr LP 50E - current opinions?
I have one, and it was always an issue to keep it running. Have to take the trigger module out 2-3 times a season put some grease up there, otherwise the magnet is not strong enough to release it. And the plastic trigger mount is a piece of trash.

IWA is in March, which is far and away the biggest sales fair in this business. Nobody sells anything at Olympic games. Any further questions as to the timing?

Re: compact or long LP10
That statement is too absolute. There are posts on TT from very, very good shooters who prefer short APs to long APs - look up the threads about the short Morini 162. Sight radius does not really matter in AP, the 10 ring is large enough. There are national team shooters using short APs instead of l...

Re: Is it possible to tune the Steyr LP10 to higher velociti
I think I remember that when I tried that years ago, I never got the LP10 higher than 170-175 m/sec, even though an LP1 would do more than that. I thought at the time that the absorber absorbed some air as well, not only recoil. Never followed up on it, though. AFAIK, the LP2 does not have an absorb...
