Re: Stance When Shooting B/40/4 Targets

I'm recovering from a minor shoulder injury in January while out on my snow shoes. The shoulder was really getting sore this week from shooting, so I tried opening my stance slightly which helped my shoulder and steadiness. With the more open stance it's easier to just shift one foot. I also play a ...

Re: Stance When Shooting B/40/4 Targets

I'm certain WRH1 is mental. That's what my wife keeps telling me! In all seriousness, don't overthink it. If its easier for you, just shift one foot and call it good. Heck, maybe dont move at all! All I know is if I keep getting hung up on something, whether its this, my front sight width, grip adj...

Shift one foot? :-) I've been doing that and it seems to be the least time consuming.

Re: I'm sorry your new air pistol is a piece of crap

I owned Steyr and Walther , now a MGH 1 Hybrid. As said above, you need to have the tool available in order to do a shooting sport. After reading a lot about different air pistols and in special views from buyers , I came to the conclusion that a Benelli Kite would be a good deal for me. But there ...

Stance When Shooting B/40/4 Targets

When shifting from the left two bulls to the right bulls, or visa versa, do most shooters realign their stance by moving both feet "ahead" to compensate for the distance between left and right bulls (approx 7 inches) or might it be better (more efficient) to just shift one foot to change t...

Re: Shooting Glasses Option and Question

A year or so ago there was a male shooter at a world cup final in 10 meter air pistol who did not have glasses of any kind, BUT, he did have an blinder over his non-shooting eye made of cardboard hung on a piece of masking tape from his forehead. It seemed to work ok for him. Now I’ve heard everyth...

Re: Shooting Glasses Option and Question

. . . or save a few more pennies and use DUCT TAPE - right on your eye! Seriously, I just "upgraded" from $6 drugstore glasses to Olympic Champion. Findings: 1. The sport-specific glasses will allow to perfectly align your lens orthogonal to your target. Regular glasses you are looking sl...

Re: Shooting Glasses Option and Question

I don't think you're missing a thing. Heck, use a slice of Scotch Tape and forget the flip-up blinder, save the $25. A year or so ago there was a male shooter at a world cup final in 10 meter air pistol who did not have glasses of any kind, BUT , he did have an blinder over his non-shooting eye mad...

Shooting Glasses Option and Question

I was watching the latest World Cup air pistol event last night on the ISSF You Tube channel. I noticed that several shooters, rather than using Varga or similar frames, were using a regular pair of glasses with a flip up (or down) blinder over their non-dominant eye. I'm assuming that the dominant ...

Re: 300 Meter Prone On-Line Event and Custom Stock Question

I've purchased stocks from both Boyd's and Stocky's. Know what you are buying and I don't think you will be disappointed. The wood laminated stocks I've purchased from Boyd's had some value to me---easy to fit, functional, price was right and I've had no issues with them. A friend just purchased a ...

Re: How Do you handle / deal with a Sore Shoulder or Arm ?

Everybody seems to have missed this: Don't get old. Getting old is better than the alternative! Every day above ground is a good day with or without the suggested massage. I often have some pain in my left, shooting arm, shoulder. It goes back to an old football injury. My meds of choice are Ibupro...

10 Meter Air Pistol Team Anyone?

Over at NetCompetitor https://monthly.netcompetitor.com/ there are monthly individual and team matches in a number of shooting disciplines. I'd love to hear from anyone interested in forming a team to compete monthly from the comfort of our homes. Also, if anyone doing air pistol (or 300 meter rifle...

300 Meter Prone On-Line Event and Custom Stock Question

I've just decided to get into this discipline, albeit on a budget level for the moment. Cost is something of a issue. I began competitive shooting as a 12 year old back in 1961 with 50ft small bore (still have my Mossberg 144LS). I've gotten NetCompetitor to add a monthly 300 meter event which will ...

Shooting Jacket Stability Question

I had a friend over the other night and after watching an old Lana Turner Film Noir movie, I put the ISSF YouTube channel on to show her air pistol and air rifle, standing. Her question was, how much additional stability does the ISSF shooting jacket provide in the standing position? Not having an I...
