Re: Hill Pump Questions

In Australia scuba tanks require a hydro test annually if used for diving but only every five years if for shooting or air tools. Dive shops keep this under their hat in most cases and you may have to sign a form stating that the air will not be used for diving. ...just wondering if the U.S. has a ...

Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE JAN. 2020

Well, since I don't know "Betty", I'll have to take Renold's word for it. He was pretty adamant. I slurped a bourbon Manhattan at the Oak Bar ($18) with a really beautiful woman during the big "Christmas Blizzard". That was really fun. Too bad the place went down the shitter whe...

Re: Pellet performance vs cost

I've been using JSB Simply Airgun Pellets, 8.02 gr, of late. Inexpensive and quite good. About what the RWS Basic costs, $7.50 per 500. About the same cost as RWS basic if you order from Pyramid with their buy four tins for the price of three pricing. You will save a bit on shipping with the JSB bec...

Re: Review of Walther LP500 Expert

It's been noted that Steyr has a regulator that is relatively easy to replace as a complete unit. I noticed in an exploded diagram of the Hammerli AP-20 that the regulator also appears to be a separate, discrete unit. Can anyone confirm that this is in fact what part number 8 is with the AP-20? Dia...

Re: Review of Walther LP500 Expert

I think Champion's Choice serviced Walthers. At least at one time, worked on one of mine. Thanks. I'm weighing options to replace my Kite. I'm 71, but hope to live long enough to see another regulator go bust over time like the Kite did. The idea of having another regulator and/or repair service on...

Re: Review of Walther LP500 Expert

On another thread it was noted that Steyr has a "modular" regulator that is relatively easy to remove and replace. Does anyone know if any of the other brands sold in the US (Gehmann, Walther, Hammerli, FWB, Pardini, Morini) have a similar design? Thanks.

Re: Review of Walther LP500 Expert

Sometime call Walther / Umarex customer service for your entertainment. See what your impression is. I tried calling 3 times to find out about a Walther product currently on their own website, the FP500. Nobody knew?!? I got passed around and finally disconnected twice. The third time I went to a v...

Re: Review of Walther LP500 Expert

I own a Steyr Evo10e and a Morini CM200 so this is what I am comparing the Walther LP500 Expert against. This is my opinion and no one is paying me a dime for this. Your mileage may very. After well over 5,000 pellets and a ton of dry firing I am more in love with this pistol now compared to when I...

Re: Hill Pump Questions

Forget the pump. It's a PIA! A full SCUBA tank will last well over a year for most folks. When it gets down to about half full, take it to the dive shop when you're going to be in the neighborhood. Tell the shop you're only going to use it for an airgun and that you're really cheap. OR buy a used t...

Re: Revisiting Benelli Kite Service

Yes, the Steyr regulator comes out as a unit. I bought a spare to have, and fixed my own by simply taking it apart and lubing the o-rings. Our host will rebuild yours for $75. After taking it apart, and cleaning the firing valve too, I can sure appreciate the simplicity of the Steyr, even though I ...

Hill Pump Questions

I have a scuba tank that I've used to fill my air pistol and air rifle. Now that I live in Northeastern Vermont, the closest shop for a tank refill is a two hour drive. My tank is also due for recertification which, while not necessary from an airgun perspective, is required before any scuba shop wi...

Re: Revisiting Benelli Kite Service

I much appreciate the replies. I'm quite reluctant to attempt this repair myself.

Out of curiosity, do any of the airgun manufacturers make modular regulator units that can simply be removed and replaced? That would seem to be a much better design alternative.

Re: Revisiting Benelli Kite Service

The manual with exploded diagram I have. When the o ring deteriorates to the point of not holding 110 bar, I'll try opening the regulator and finding the bad o ring. O rings are fairly standard. That said, I will try calling them in Italy before attempting this myself.

Re: Revisiting Benelli Kite Service

I've sent an inquiry to Benelli USA. The Kite and the Kite compact are still listed on the Italian Benelli site as being in production. Hopefully this is accurate.

Does anyone know who does gunsmithing for USA Shooting? I'd like to give that person at try about Kite repairs.
