Well after reading all of this, its acually interesting what hard work can do. I wanted to answer to Guest 10 about the competition jitters.. I am still at the point that I do get nervous on a competition BUT not as what you describe. Here´s what I do: I try to concentrate on the shot process (breat...

I dunno, cause I train alone, don't have a coach, What I did was look for literature (look in http://www.targetshooting.ca ) also google Don Nygord tips, that helped me allot. I heard that if you can start with a coach is better, since if you don't you may have to get bad habits out when you're bein...

Control targets

After an interesting chat on technique problems yesterday, today I was thinking if I could make my own control targets, seeing that training with the back of the target helped me so much, I guess with control targets would help me more. I have seen some targets with a triangle and a horizontal line,...

well what worked for me was shooting about 1000 shots to blank targets, not only did I get better at focusing the sights but my trigger pull got better also. Another tip is to squeeze fluidly and all along while you're moving the pistol to the bullseye, no sudden pulls nor slow then fast to compensa...

Seems that day I was in the zone, I did however see that when I am going down with the gun to the bullseye (positioning) it has to be fluid and kind of fast. Wich in turn I noticed it helps me keep more focus on the sights. Today wasn`t really a nice day hehehe (get sometimes stumped when I get no r...

the grip, release, and first 10 time.

Hi, after reading allot of posts (including ed's uncontios shooting one). I have been trying to implement some of the things most of you have said. First of all after adding these, I have noticed a dramatic change in my group pattern (if I'm doing it right). Now let me tell you what I'm doing. First...

very interesting view, and to be honest I never payed attention to it I just LIft hehehehe. still there is no magical tendons that make you by "lifting with the hand" not use the muscles of the shoulder. I don't get the beneficial or the "difference" either way I think IMO it wou...

You hit the nail in the "accostumed" thing... My hand now goes automatically to my back.

hehehe as I said I think trigger control and sight alignment are more important right now...

Right now I am deciding on to looking at the "free hand placement" later, I still feel that my trigger control and sight focus is still very off. Specially when I am shooting at the targets, my wobblezone is all over the place....

exactly, even though it was a low score (I expected 520 or more) I was glad I did ok even with the headacke losing concentration. still hehe I would of been cooler if the 8's where 9's hehehehehe Regarding Steve's reply, I am really not sure why its comftrable, I was thinking that most of the time i...

well I have been reading the posts quite interested, and as a newbie (with no real experience or technique) sounds quite attractive, and logical. Still and this goes to Ed, have you tried "leting the subC loose" in practice? and if so what happened? If this could actually work, would it be...

thanx for your replies... I allways take the "top shooters don't do it" the same as what pistol to buy.
to be honest I started with my arm and hand in front but it was not as comftrable as now.

The free arm, and some other details.

Hey, I was wondering. Today I had a tournament (wich didn't go real well, I blame the headacke for my 506) and as allways I put my free (left) arm behind my back. Later another shooter said "its better if you put your arm in your front". Now what I have read says nothing really about your ...

The progress is surprising.

Hey yall, I can tell you now that the training with blank targets is great, I had a tournament today and to my surprise (because there where many 6's and 2 4's) I got 520 (yes its not 570 but its better than my last one of 511) Thank you all for the tips and feedback, I have another one on thursday ...

Not to decry any of the previous posts----but I find it hard to accept a "raw beginner" shooting 500+ after 2-3 months. These individuals must have so much raw talent and innate capabilities as to absolutely stun me. I am no expert, by far, but have been shooting and coaching for many yea...
