Re: Air Pistol selection

Excellent advice from everyone, don’t forget to get the correct grip size. I’ve just spent 6 years shooting one which was too small, and a change yielded immediate improvement. Books or the internet didn’t help me, a past national champion did.
It’s a great sport, hope you enjoy it.

Re: Air Pistol selection

I’ve got two compacts, FWB P44 and in the last month, an Evo10e. Both weigh 900 grams. Both test cards show a very tight grouping. Why even consider a full length pistol? Is there a view that compacts are for juniors, ladies and older people with less shoulder strength? Does this bother you? Length ...

Re: Stevyr evo10e click noise when cocked and loaded

I bought one yesterday, and was instructed to charge it every 6 months. Has the pistol been recharged recently?

Re: Feinwerkbau P8X review: how to improve it?

Maybe just wait for the P85?
Manufacture date Q1 2024, I heard a fortnight ago.

Re: Carry on with compact or move to a full size Feinwerkbau?

Thank you. I think a good way forward will be to affix barrel weights to my compact to simulate the higher weight of a longer barrel. If I cannot get along with these, then a longer barrel won't work for me. Sight length on my compact currently is 325mm, could go to 330-400mm on the P8X. Not entirel...

Re: Carry on with compact or move to a full size Feinwerkbau?

Actually, no one has answered the question wether a full size, new pistol will outshoot an older compact model. Does a longer barrel and sight radius convey an advantage. Not an unreasonable question to raise on a shooting forum?
Does anyone have any actual knowledge about this?

Re: Carry on with compact or move to a full size Feinwerkbau?

You're a fine lot of shooters! I was looking for a good reason to trade up, and you have failed me! Actually 5 years of shooting the same pistol does provide a lot of experience, and I don't think I should give that up lightly. Already using top pellets - H&N Finale Match, so no benefits to be g...

Carry on with compact or move to a full size Feinwerkbau?

Hi all Currently shooting a 13 year old P44 compact, my first AP. Owned 5 years, never serviced, but shot 6 bulls in 10 shots recently. Absolutely love the pistol, and recognise that it far exceeds my abilities. However, I do wonder if a full length pistol would improve my scores? Probably a P8X, I'...

Re: Walther KK500 Blacktec

Thanks for this summary - to be honest, the Blacktec KK500 is a more appropriate rifle for me to shoot than a more complicated KK500 version - I probably will not touch many adjustments once I have it dialled in. And I'm sure will still retain a decent resale value in the future, so the worry of buy...

Re: Walther KK500 Blacktec

thanks for the heads-up - yes, I'll be in the market very shortly.
I haven't checked the spec carefully - but at 5kg, appears 1kg lighter than the standard kk500.
What are the major changes that have driven this? and are they suitable for prone, with that handrest?
Cheers

Re: rifle fit for smallbore prone shooting

Hi Tim, Thank you - I'm getting some great advice from this forum. I've recalled that the small bore club range blew down in the 1987 storms, and shortly afterwards the Government seized our full bore semi automatic rifles in 1988, so I effectively gave up shooting small bore rifle then, before the ...

Re: rifle fit for smallbore prone shooting

Thanks Pat, Tim I'll be shooting NSRA 25 yds, which does require a different position for each shot on the ten bull targets. You both make good points re the position of the butt, which I agree, can easily shift with the flat, unadjustable type. I will check there youtube video carefully - I'm begin...

Re: rifle fit for smallbore prone shooting

Thanks for the advice gentlemen, I shall bear that in mind, and will buy the books to help me cope during this enforced isolation that we are all bearing. I have already learnt what a 'Palma' rifle is, and that sounds huge fun also. Now, I'm keen on the martini, because you can reload without removi...

rifle fit for smallbore prone shooting

Dear all, I’m sure this has been covered many times, so apologies. I’m a returning shooter, after a 38 year gap, hoping to recapture the glory days and scores of my youth. Probably likely to buy a secondhand rifle to begin with, maybe even a Martini International again. But I have no idea how to ens...
