I'm still shooting my 1407. It's a bit lighter than the 1413 Supermatch, but it's still an accurate rifle. I also use it for our beginner's shooting clinics so the newbies can shoot an Anschutz target rifle. Even some of the other instructors will line up to get a chance to pull the trigger on that ...

Re: SIG/SAUER P-230 380cal. Questions

Hello I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask this but I will go ahead. I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on this particular gun the SIG/SAUER p230 380. cal.. I am interested as to the function, dependability, and size to be use as a concealed carry gun. I have done some reading on th...

I've got the exact same gun, and it's a real tack driver! High Standards do not like mag loads, so it's best to stick with something like CCI standard velocity.

Take good care of it and it will outlast you!

I used to use an old camera bipod for my scope stand - it worked real good for prone, but I got a little paranoid when I was shooting offhand because of the lack of stability. My dad did some piddling around in the garage and welded an old stand together for me. I have no idea what that thing was to...

Well, I'm new to the sport and don't know what to buy. I have not gotten the feedback I expected here. Several recommened the MEC sling, but I need to spend my money more wisely than that. All the items that are required....well all add up. I still need a scope, spotting scope, scope stand. Likely ...

Don't know what type of sling you are looking for - is there a reason why you feel like you must speak to a salesperson before purchasing? I have three good sources for equipment, but I usually don't have to talk with them unless there is a problem with my purchase. I have ordered equipment from Cre...

If you are competing, you might want to check the legality of the boots as well. ISSF is VERY STRICT on what they will allow, but NRA competitions allow a lot more flexibility on their footwear.

Go get your hands on a copy of the book "Position Rifle Shooting" by Bill Pullum. There's lots of info there that a 3P and Prone shooter can use, and several training program suggestions (too numerous to list everything here). Go look at the army marksmanship unit's website - lots of good ...

You might try www.championshooters.com. I've purchased many targets from them for postal competition and I've been happy with them. All the targets have been card stock types, not printed paper. You can also order from Creedmore or Champion's Choice - I assume they are comparable to Champion Shooter...

Try Bob Shea in North Haven, CT 06473 John Heard good things about him - definately knows his stuff on High Standards. hill987, nothing personal, but you are the first person I've heard of that hasn't had problems with the Texas High Standard company - and no, I know it's not Mitchell Arms. If they...

If I could afford it, I'd buy one of the old Unertl target scopes. I've looked on Gunbroker and every once in a while a nice one pops up - but never when I'm flush with cash - just my luck! There's another guy on the internet who sells Unertls and his prices are fair (but not cheap either!). Sorry b...

Try talking to the local guys that shoot Bullseye. Most of them either own a HS or know a good gunsmith qualified to work on them. There are still quite a few gunsmiths who are familiar with and work on HS guns.

Monard has some good shooting coats yes, they have nice stuff, however, the OP is a beginning shooter and I'm wondering if he/she should be spending major bucks acquiring the "top-of-the-line" equipment. Having the best equipment is nice, but it doesn't always translate into having the be...

Re: Shooting Coat Recommendations???

Im a beginner to the position shooting. I just got an Anschuts 1810. I will soon be ordering a Kurt Thune II sling. I figured since the sling seems to be the most important tool I wouldn't take a shortcut there. On the other hand....what would be a good shooting coat to start with that wont break t...

When I shot 3-Position Smallbore in college, the ISU rules were in force, and we used to joke that eventually we would probably have to shoot in our underwear just to make everyone happy! We used to shoot in regular combat boots until challenged by another team's coach right before our match. Our co...

Re: High Standard pistol

Hi, I'm a long time HS user myself. I am not truly a bullseye shooter, and I've never shot the complete match. I have used mine at the Master's every year since '89 and it's a really tough course of fire there. If you have a problem with a Trophy and would like someone who knows about them to look ...
