CMP/Ely Ammo test
I know I'll catch a lot of crap for this one, but I'm seriously looking for an answer. Got my bags of Ely from CMP. Off the Ransom rest, SW41, grouped excellent. Fed Gold not quite as good, but good. OLD Remington target OK too, certainly for 50ft. BUT.... when i shot hand hold, red dot, Ely all ove...

Re: Precison Pistol-Timed/Rapid Fire-Target Orientation
Interesting comments. I didn't want to get into SPEED of target turning, or FACE time. I was certainly referring to NON-Alibi situations. Obviously (or not to some) until an Alibi situation-whether shooter or range- would have to be resolved before the targets could be FACED, regardless if it's the ...

Precison Pistol-Timed/Rapid Fire-Target Orientation
I've only been doing this sport for about 50 years, so I've still got a lot to learn. I'm looking for some clarification. Except in just a couple of tournaments recently, AFTER the first 5 shot string in Timed/Rapid, and all shooting has completed for that string, and any alibis settled, the targets...

Parallax error- Optics - 50ft
I didn't see any posts on this. Is there a "red dot" or reflex sight that has no, or negligible Parallax Error at 50ft? I have several makes, and they all have enough error to cause concern. Simple test, sand bag the pistol/rifle, move your head left to right. It can be as much as 1 to 2 r...

Steyr LG-100 Cylinder Gauge Damaged
My air cylinder for the LG-100 took a little drop after filling (wood floor). Butter Fingers. Gauge now reads 0. No other damage. Holds air just fine, just don't know how much.
Anyone know how to adjust/repair gauge?
Thanks,
George

Re: San Francisco Ranges
I'm sorry to say it's a bit dismal in the SF bay area. The politics of the LEFT COAST are making a concerted effort to close as many ranges in the Bay Area as is possible. There is a Biannual 1200 prone match held in Modesto, CA, about 90 mins from San Francisco. Feel free to PM me, and I'd be happy...

Re: Nor Cal Free Pistol?
For whatever reason, director at Diablo didn't schedule any FP matches. He said he will do so next year. Coyote Point is temporarily closed, due to range work. They hope to open it up again sometime in August, at least that's what we've been told. Then there will be the monthly FP, etc matches again.

Re: WAP Travesty
I was participating when the changes started. Make no mistake about it, it's all about TV $$ for the IOC. If the shooting sports didn't make it more "viewer" friendly, they were going to eliminate the sports. 60 shot free pistol match......Paint Dry.....Grass Grow??? What about the limitat...

There is an international pistol timer on the Google App Store that I've used for some time:

Works very well too.
I'll give yours a try as well. Thanks for the contribution!!

Free Pistol Barrel Cleaning
I haven’t seen any specific thread about this, so I’ll stir up the SH**. I shoot both rifle (sb position/prone, some HP) and pistol (Int incl FP & NRA), have for 40+ years. One theme I keep seeing on this site is the lack of need or desire to clean free pistol barrels. Of all the pistols, these ...

Passing of a pioneer
Not sure if anybody in this forum would know him, or his achievements, but my father Merrill D. Martin, passed away a couple of days ago. Among his achievements were the development of Moly Coating of bullets, as well as practical fire lapping. He started NECO, source of much of this, and passed alo...

Re: Noise in the World Cup Finals
I love this topic. I've been at this game for 40+ years. I love the atmosphere I've seen at the finals. A quiet range is great. But single, specific, individual sounds can be distracting, but as previously noted, a "din" can be worked with. ALL shooters are under the same conditions, so wh...
