Re: FAS 6004 vs Venturi V10
This whole question of V10 versus FAS has cropped up a lot but lets answer it properly. The FAS trigger, which has to be the main considerations of any target pistol, is night and day better. The V10 cannot be called match quality. In fact it is not as good as a bog std utility pistol like a P17. It...

Re: Super Lube Mystery Failure
I have been saying it for about 10 years. The deal is, that while Silicone oil is perfect for lubricating an O ring in a plastic, scientific casing, or mechanism...and on the face of that, seemingly ideal for the airgun, the fact remains that where metal comes into contact with metal, silicone can b...

Re: FAS 6004 .3mm disc for piston
You are right to be suspicious of lubes working their way under the plastic and loosening it off. It happens...often a few 1000 shots to do so, but easy enough to replace if it does. For me, i machined up a disk in alloy and spot faced it into the piston head, gluing in with Red Loctite, but i under...

Re: Lubes for ssp pistols?
Trust the advice here. Use regular grade Hydraulic oil or a very thin mineral oil ...forget the rest. It needs to be thin otherwise when it finds its way to the valve it will gum it up.....oil always finds a way! Hydraulic/air tool oil is very thin and contains no nasties to attack O rings...obvious...

Re: FAS 6004 .3mm disc for piston
You can use 0.5mm PTFE tape with peel off and fix backing. There is 0.7 mm dead space in the 3 6004s i have done, so the O.5mm is a safe bet without dead heading and straining the pivot pin.....De-grease, or even rough up the front of the piston face first with a bit of course abrasive . ...but befo...

Re: Improve the FAS 6004
...because the barrel of the Sig was produced at a much later time than the production run of the 6004 barrels and they having ironed out the snags of breach entry and sealing....in a nut shell.
Its a sinch to put the 6004 barrel into the same condition if you follow the advice here.

Re: Improve the FAS 6004
SIG has been better finished...better quality control of barrel finishing at the breach and an improved seal fitting. Finish of main frame improved from the Webley Tempest like finish of the FAS to a satin anodised like finish. Cylinder and valve are shared between the 2 guns, as is the piston rod. ...

Re: Improve the FAS 6004
You do not need a special tool to undo the piston rod bearing. I use 2 pin punches shoved into both holes, holding with one hand and turning anti clockwise frees it off and then unscrewing with just your fingers. It is not very tight and you should not do it up very tight, or you will strip the thre...

Re: Improve the FAS 6004
For the C clip i have actually used a plastic pen top. One with a gradual angle coming to a point. Great for driving apart the C clip and shoving it from its location, without damaging the paint finish but i now have a plastic wedge shape tool i made. As regard the velocities, you are over thinking ...

Re: Improve the FAS 6004
Do not use WD40 as stated above. Simply use some very light sewing machine oil, or Hydraulic oil. They are very thin, unlike grease. It will flush and lube the internal valve as you shoot it. Grease like lithium is bad news as it gets compressed down into the TP clogging it up....keep grease for the...

Re: Improve the FAS 6004
Think in terms of a long thin piece of rail, anchored into the keeper screws for where the rear sight mounts at one end. At the muzzle end, it anchors into the tiny 2mm groove for the foresight, utilising the tiny fixing screw for the foresight in that groove. Now think a sight on top and all your f...

Re: Improve the FAS 6004
B&M make a mount for it that fits into the rear sight location and into the front sight groove, but its a bit weak IMO.
If you have to fit a sight, I would drill, tap and fit a small piece of rail. A 5 slot from Amazon.

If there is still a determination to use Lithium, Moly, SM50 etc...use it on the pivot pin...not inside the delicate works.

Re: Baikal IZH-MP-46M
You are welcome bud. The key is to stop worrying about what the oil is doing to the O ring but worrying more about it being thin enough to flow into the valve, both lubricating those less serviceable seals but not gumming it up at the same time. These thin oils attacking O rings, it is not something...

Re: Baikal IZH-MP-46M
Never really got the whole 46M thing. It is a very accurate pistol make no mistake but Its just too plain ugly and ungainly for my liking. I much prefer say a FAS tuned up to the point where it cuts clean cards and then enjoying the less weight, nicer grips without mods and much nicer styling. Howev...

The Original 604 went through a number of incarnations before getting it right but many think the ...
