Re: Can you use 22 shorts for shooting 50 Meter free pistol?
I was under the impression the only thing a free pistol ever had to be was safe and 22 LR chambered. The rapid fire pistol was shot with shorts back before the rules change; and in spite of now being obsolete they are hard to find and expensive when you do.

Re: Why is Shooting an Olympic Sport?
Sadly today as many people mistake a journey for the destination as they do an activity for a sport. I’d argue that gymnastics, diving, dance, figure skating are activities not sports. Any time you need a group of judges where the high and low scores are removed and the rest averaged to determine a ...

Re: Olympic BREAKDANCING ???
The real problem is the Olympics have lost sight of the difference between a sport and an organized activity. When you need a panel of judges where they throw out the highest and lowest score and average the rest to determine the winner vs. reading the time off a stop watch or counting the points sc...

Loading a Pardini
I shoot a Pardini that does not hold the bolt open when the last round is fired. I shoot at a range that is funny about closed actions, so I open the action between magazines and allow the bolt to drop with spring tension after I insert a fresh one by hardly touching the bolt handles. Is this a mist...

Re: Olena Kostevych
She’s back! She gave birth to her first child and was away for a while but she made a fine return to shooting in Munich with a gold in Team AP and an individual gold in AP and a medal in SP. I always enjoy watching her shoot, great to know she has not retired.

Re: Sense of Hospitality Permeates ISSF World Cup Competitio
I have to wonder how many of these competitors, who had missing pistols, came through Atlanta’s airport which is Delta’s Hub (or flew with Delta), an organization that has made no secret of their anti 2A and anti NRA agenda. I would hate to learn deliberate “mistakes” were made on customs paperwork,...

Has Olena Kostevych retired from shooting? She was not at the recent ISSF matches in Korea.

Re: Experience With Federal "UltraMatch" .22 Ammo in Semi-Au
I’ve always believed that Benelli when translated from Italian to English is: “double alibi” :D I never owned a pistol that was so darn picky about ammo.

Re: How safe are competition glasses?
I don't trust them so I wear a pair of Wiley-X tight fitting wraparound glasses under my Champion optical glasses. Unless everyone around me is shooting air or free pistols then I usually only wear the Champions.

Re: 50m Free Pistol dropped from W/C
In the name of all competitors, I promise that we shall take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules that govern them, committing ourselves to a sport without doping and without drugs, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honor of our teams. T...

Re: 50m Free Pistol dropped from W/C
The Olympics isn't a sporting event, it hasn't been that for at least 20 years. It is a business . That's the real answer in a nut shell. Its not called the 5 Ring Circus for nothing... I am a retired athletic trainer. When I was just out of college it was a rite of passage to volunteer a summer to...

Re: 50m Free Pistol dropped from W/C
With the Olympic coverage showing entire hockey games, basketball games, every second of the ice skating, including the non-competition routines, hours of running qualification races , entire qualifying curling matches (that’s about as exciting as watching a chess match BTW) they don’t have time to ...

Re: Dimensions of bench for Olympic AP, RF? Height?
I use a guitar foot stand when I shoot a free pistol or AP off a short table. The sport pistols, that load with magazines, table height does not seem to bother me. I shoot at the club level, so things are semi formal—I imagine at a more elite/controlled level I might not be allowed to use my stand.

Re: Dimensions of bench for Olympic AP, RF? Height?
I’m a tall guy, and I can tell you the height of a table makes a big difference by the end of a shoot. Between having to lean over to load, and the extra distance I have to lift, it does not seem like it would matter but I can tell you without measuring if I was using a low tables or a taller one by...

Re: 3 d Printed Grips.
I had a set for a .38 revolver, they failed pretty quickly within a 100 rounds. Andy offered to replace them no questions asked; his service is outstanding, but I did not take him up on his offer. I’d be comfortable with them on a .22 or AP but my experience with light target loads in a heavy revolv...

Re: Get stuffed!
I agree that there are WAY too many competing disciplines in the US. If you want to shoot pistol competitively, there are about a dozen options. We actually did better back when NRA bullseye was the ONLY type of pistol competition, and they didn't have red dots or scopes. NRA bullseye is pretty clo...

Re: Get stuffed!
A 50 meter target is 14 feet further away than a 50 yard one. The bullet drop might be insignificant but the visual (sight picture) difference I find very noticeable. I usually dial it out with in the sighting shots, but I’m not shooting at an Olympic class level where a couple of 9’s might well be ...
