Search for Shooting Buddy Vlad Berchanski

I have somehow lost touch with one of my shooter/collector buddies. Last I knew he was living in Missouri and occasionally shot with Alan Zasadny who was local to him at the time. His phone number had been 414-315-1136 for a number of years but it is now someone else’s number. If anyone knows Vlad a...

P44 Finish Quality....

I have had my original Blue version for over four years and had purchased it second hand. It and my Steyr LP1 are my two main shooters for both competition and practice. I do treat my pistols carefully but it has still had quite a bit of use and there have been absolutely no issues with the finish o...

No Dry Fire Capability for Model 10

Which is pretty much the rule for any spring piston airgun.

Sorry,

Model 10

If you can get a chance to handle a Model 10 prior to making the purchase you obviously will get a better idea how you might like it. It is very well made and is certainly capable of top scores and the Giss system is very effective in eliminatating any sort of vibration or recoil not that the IZH ha...

Funny Thing Rover....

With all my pistols my FWB Model 2 Mini is still one of my favorite guns to shoot. Good solid build, everything about it feels nice.

Enjoy,

Pistol Choices.....

Having either owned or shot extensively all of the first mentioned three I would also mention that the FWB P44 (and P34) is very much like the LP10 in it's lack of any felt recoil, basically dead in your hand. I agree with Rover though that this is not the most important trait to consider but it sti...

Alfa Proj...

I have had an Alfa Proj pcp with adjustable palm shelf grips for about 8 months now, got it in a trade/sale of one of my match pistols. It is a nice gun and a fairly good value but for me I would prefer an IZH46M for ten meter shooting. Out of the box without the supplied weight that can attach to t...

Back to IZH46M grips...

To agree with what was stated above, most of the IZH46M versions that I have seen in the last few years had an extra meaty and thick grip in order to allow for customizing the fit. The original IZH46 in comparison did have much thinner less hand filling grips and were a bit of a weak link on an othe...

Dry Fire FWB 65/80/90

Our moderator Scott is stating a little known fact regarding the dry fire capability of this series of FWB spring piston match pistols. Common rule of thumb is to never dry fire a spring piston gun, ie shoot without a pellet loaded and set to go. The wisdom was that without the resistance of the pel...

Model 102

Not an easy one to come across, especially if it is in good shape. This model and the 100 both had a tendency to have the finish wear off on contact spots like the end of the cocking levers. I would say depending on absolute condition $700 to $900 would be a likely range. If you have a photo post it...

It's all so Personal.....

Having both a 102 and a 103 I find the balance of the 102 lending it a touch more stability for me (some days that is). With their specified weight both at 2.5 lbs the biggest difference is in cocking effort with the 102 at a mere two pounds due to the twin lever design and the 103 at 12 lbs which i...

NYC - airguns

A good habit that I have gotten into is to carry a printout (from website, etc) that covers the match I am attending to show why I would be transporting an airgun. For further support I also carry a copy of the Airgun Hobby magazine that has an article I wrote. In addition to the above I would try t...

smaller AP's

I agree of course if money is not an issue then a top grade Jr. model would be wonderful and yes they do hold their value well in case things don't work out long term. I also agree with Rover and some of the other respondents regarding good less expensive options that could work out well and/or be a...

SSP..

I agree that a single stroke pneumatic match air pistol can be a fine choice for most shooters. Perhaps if one was a top world class shooter who might find the effort (often slight) of cocking/charging affecting their heart detrimentally it might not be the best selection. There are a number of SSP ...

Crosman Skanaker...

They are powerful for a ten meter pistol design, typically shooting in the 600 fps range with match pellets. With their bleeder valve system they are easier to get a complete fill of CO2 than most other designs. They do make excellent silhouette shooters, Tim McMurray did .22 caliber long barrel mod...

FAS Factory Support is Excellent....

I had to get some parts for one of my AP604's a few years ago and the factory was very helpful. I contacted them via email and they sent everything I needed. When the package got lost in transit they sent a second package of parts out. Great little gun, the only duplicate I have in my collection, ca...

I seem to remember Brocock of England offered a refillable 12 gram. If I am correct, they first came out with them over ten years ago....

Congrats on doing that yourself... Joe G.

LP1

Luis, you did not mention why you no longer have the Steyr. That would still be the number one choice if available in my opinion. With quite a number to select from in my collection my LP1 is generally my gun for competitions. I definitely consider it's trigger among the best available with very goo...
