Eddy could it be that this falls into one of two categories: - there was a lot more going on than just a shooter firing at the centre of the target from close range (measure the hole position and compare with computer calculations - from what I heard of this incident I doubt it) and see what the mon...

Can't you stick some paper clips on the leading edge to provide the initial weight? Not really needed Ed. If the paper strip is torn off at the bottom of the box for the start of a relay, the paper feed is obvious for the first few shots - it's between the 8th and 15th shots (approx) that the paper ...

Re 10m EST targets; I train our range staff to check the movement of the paper strip for each shooter during the start of AP matches (a bit tricky for the first few shots, as the paper curls until there is enough weight of paper strip to hang down) and ROUTINELY check every allocated target during t...

The lens you NEED (not somebody's suggestion) - go to an optometrist that understands the sighting process for pistol. Corrective lens/es that include any needed cylinder correction (astigmatism) as well as spherical (focus) will need to be set up for the distance to the front sight AND the distance...

...how many ISSF championships (i.e. international events counting towards Olympic or World Cup points) are held in : 1. the southern hemisphere? 2. 3rd world countries? 3. Islamic countries? Pretty much every one that is applied for. Consider how many in these groups apply for a World Cup or Regio...

Re: Do fat rifleros degenerate (or progress) to pistoleros?
...Pistol shooters could actually benefit from a large belly, I think, as it can give some support to the shooting arm just at the junction torso/shoulder.tseuG I doubt that my wife, my doctor, or my dietician would agree that this is sufficient excuse for my shape, but I will give it a try Spencer C

Back to Richard's original premise for this thread
...Does anyone have anything -preferably constructive- to say? Richard Newman This problem is not exclusive to the USA. Without getting into anybody's personal preferences for the style of shooting sport, here are two components for consideration - are the organised shooting sports growing (and jus...

With respect, I disagree. It is the athlete's responsibility to make sure they are within the rules. Yes, but! As Rob writes, 'It is both of theirs responsibility', and too often the coaches do not give shooters good information when it comes to the rules, and at some point the shooter gets the war...

Bill, I notice the same at major shoots around the world. At the really elite level it is unusual to see any CO2 pistols or rifles. For several years, most of the shoots at the Sydney Olympic range used CO2 out of my home supply tank - in 1999 that was quite a few shooters each competition; by the 2...

A cylinder of CO2 gas at normal temperatures would not hold much gas. CO2 has the property of becoming a liquid at comparatively low pressure - the outcome being that a 'full' cylinder of pressurised CO2 will be mainly liquid, with a bit of CO2 gas at the top (all at the same pressure). This is the ...

8.6.1.2 / 7.2.5.1 are being enforced around the world a lot more strongly than they were. These are not particularly 'new' rules and I find it somewhat amazing when a shooter receives a warning and wants to protest that the range officials are arbitarily bringing in new rules... Unfortunately, some ...
