Re: Buy a tuner or not?
Hi All When I first came up with PRX, it was primarily for the Benchrest crowd. The most common tuner used is a Harrels tuner. There are several associated weights and tubes that affix to the end of the tuner. What this all has in common is that entire set up can be moved in and out. As little as .0...

Re: Buy a tuner or not?
Hi All Interesting comment Joost. There may not be anything to length FWB other than to increase the sight radius. Having an overall length in mm might shed some light. IE, if they say its 100mm, it may be just a length they decided on, if it measures out to an "odd" number like 137mm, may...

Re: Buy a tuner or not?
Next Up, multiple harmonics in a tube. Remember those old radios in the car back in the good old days. You have to turn the knob to your favorite station? There may be several station available to tune to and they are all assaulting the radio at one time, all the time, but we just tune them out and ...

Re: Buy a tuner or not?
Good Morning You are correct Tim. We have one last thing to do. When we multiply the QW by the harmonic, we get what is called an acoustic length. The acoustic length takes into consideration that the harmonic wave extends past the muzzle a short distance before reflection back down the tube. What w...

Re: Buy a tuner or not?
Ok, Lets try this again You are correct that much of the information relating to the harmonics of a tube that is closed on one end and open at the other refers to musical instruments. But any time you have gasses passing thru a tube, be it super sonic or subsonic, harmonics waves will form. What we ...

Hi All

Re: Buy a tuner or not?
Hi All I agree, this is quite a good thread. I would like to contribute to this thread, but I feeling a bit under the weather, and it makes concentration a bit of a chore. I am thoroughly enjoying reading all the great responses. PRX came about because I figured that bars and tubes operate according...

Re: Buy a tuner or not?
Good Morning All PRX is based on the harmonic waves formed in a tube that is closed on one end and open at the other. In this configuration, there will always be a node at the closed end and an anti-node at the open end. Trick is find a length of barrel and tuner that achieves a node at the muzzle, ...

Re: Bee sting tuner
Good Morning All I do agree that almost anything imaginable can and will affect the performance of the rifle. That's why we spend so darned much money on this sport. We are searching for ways to make the rifle/ammo/shooter be more consistent shot to shot. Tuners have been a fact of life for over 20 ...

Re: Bee sting tuner
Good Evening All Justin, I take exception to your use of the word "snake oil" . To use that word implies that there is something misleading or fraudulent about the claims of a product or in this case, the method Guy uses to determine the proper length a bloop tube needs to be for any barre...
