Re: Well, isn't that special!
Puh-leeze, Rover, home invasions are rare in the armed to the teeth United States and even rarer in Britain - pure straw man. Funny thing, you know, none of my English friends and relatives feel the least bit 'subjected.' There are about 400,000 burglaries in the UK every year, and in about 22% of ...

Re: How often has your range been tested?
Some research suggests that sulfur-rich foods are good at binding to heavy metals. This includes all the alliums- onions, garlic, etc.- and all the cruciferous vegetables. After shooting you should probably head to your nearest Lebanese restaurant for a plate of cauliflower with garlic-tahini sauce....

Re: Any good platforms to build an FT rifle on?
Assuming you're a beginner, I'd recommend you buy either a Crosman Marauder and a hand pump or a Air Airms TX200 for field target, depending on whether you want to shoot a PCP or spring gun. Once you start placing in the top ten regularly in matches, you can start thinking about getting a nice $2500...

Re: Why only one firing pin?
[quote="renzo" When I was young(er) they made in my country a semiauto .22 carbine that fired from an open bolt, and it had no "firing pin" as we know it: it simply had a protrusion that crossed the bolt face from side to side (through its diameter) that was shaped as a triangle,...

Re: Why only one firing pin?
I used to own a Mexican made Cabanas rifle that used crimped 6mm rimfre blanks to propel a .177 round ball down a rifled barrel. The "firing pin" was sort of floating bolt that had two protrusions machined in the end. It rested against the cartridge, and when the trigger was pulled, a heav...

Re: Dot Recommendation for 1st timer
I've used a few cheaper, but good quality dot sights, but the Ultradot has two advantages that make it worth the money: The warranty, and the fact that it is actually adjusted for minimal parallax at 25 yards.

Careful- that may attack the plastic. I suggest a black Sharpie marker.

Trigger screw for FWB LP 100?
I just bought an LP 100 that's missing the screw that retains the trigger shoe on the shaft. I assume it's a standard metric screw- anyone know the thread size and length? On the FWB exploded diagram it's just listed as an "oval headed screw."

Re: 1975 Victor wont chamber CCI SV ammo. Thoughts?
I have a High Standard Supermatic 107 and shoot CCI SV almost exclusively, and have not had any problems with feeding. I would also suggest making sure the chamber is clean of carbon buildup. Perhaps someone has been shooting shorts through it?

Re: New NRA $$$ Cry!!!
What the NRA needs is voting members who will support board members who will get them back on track. Toss out the Ted Nugent and get some better people on there. I'm not thrilled with a lot of their rhetoric and political action, but is there a another organization supporting second amendment rights...

Re: The proper oil for different types of airguns
There are many makers of good lubes. Air Rifle Headquarters (airrifleheadquarters.com) and Vortek (vortekproducts.com) are the two best known makers of custom tuning products for spring-air guns. I see they both offer moly. http://vortekproducts.com/ourstore/index.php?route=product/category&pat...

Re: The proper oil for different types of airguns
Modern spring piston guns should be lubed with a very small amount of something like a lithium-silicone blend. What specific product has this blend? For rust prevention, a thin coat of a polarized oil like Birchwood Casey Sheath or Brownell's Polarized Oil is a good choice. These oils adhere to the...

There are different grades of silicone oil. The one recommended for use in modern spring piston guns ...

Re: The proper oil for different types of airguns
The ONLY thing "pellgun oil" should be used for is inexpensive CO2 guns and pump-up guns. Silicone oil is a another option for sealing the o-rings in inexpensive pump-up guns. Silicone oil has no use in most modern spring piston guns. Yes, Beeman and others have pushed it and recommended r...

After taking note of Rover's recommendation I put a Basic and a Meisterkugeln under my stereo microscope for a comparison. They appear to be almost identical, the sole difference being that the Basics have a comparatively rough exterior surface and the Meisterkugelns are extremely smooth. I suspect ...
