Re: Uncarved TOZ-35s
Mike, Do yourself a favor and go to Rockler and get their Microplane rotary shaper. ... Tony I have six different Microplane rasps, not counting the ones in my kitchen, plus a few traditional hand cut rasps. The Microplanes are wonderful in how they cut fast and smooth- a little sandpaper is all yo...

Re: Uncarved TOZ-35s
After putting off a purchase owing to the sale of one of my guns falling through, I discovered my local neighborhood FFL could get me a like new TOZ for significantly less than Buds charged. I also bought some new rasps for carving ;-)

Re: Ruger Customer Support
The difference, I suppose, is that they're not making Old Army parts anymore. I phoned Ruger about a rear sight for my 1970s Blackhawk and they sent one free.

Re: New shooter, Baikal grip shaping, and questions
I've found that the most critical part of the shaping is in how the grip tapers from front to back. By removing material from one side or the other you alter how the gun points. Refining this helped me insure the sights lined up properly.

Re: E-clip size for pivot pins on IZH-46m?
i wonder if a 6.9mm OD is enough? That leaves 0.45mm ether side of the pin. I may well go ahead and order some myself. I found a couple pistols in our team's collection with no clips at all that had been that way for no telling how long. They aren't under any sideways force, you just need to preven...

Re: E-clip size for pivot pins on IZH-46m?
I've often used beer can shims in various applications.
Guy at the hardware store said E-clips were sized by shaft size... which turns out not to be the case. One more trip!

Re: E-clip size for pivot pins on IZH-46m?
Clever. I'd planned to hit my local hardware store just knowing the outer diameter, which would work... if they have metric e-clips.

E-clip size for pivot pins on IZH-46m?
One of the e-clips (part 68) that keeps the pivot pins (part 8) in place on my Izzy is missing. Anyone know the size? I don't have a micrometer or caliper than can measure the diameter of the slot in the pivot pin.

Re: Uncarved TOZ-35s
Both Cheaper Than Dirt and Bud's had TOZs for $500-549, depending on condition. Before ordering, though, I did some online research into their reputations... and decided not to go that route. I think I'll look around here for a while longer. I'd rather buy from a fellow shooter I can trust ;-)

Re: Uncarved TOZ-35s
I've got an IZH-46m that I'm shaping to fit my hand- it's 90% of the way there. I can use that at a basis for part of it.

Uncarved TOZ-35s
I'm seeing a lot of new old TOZ-35s with uncut grips for sale recently in the region of $500. Given that I'd like to get a 50m pistol, I'm handy wth woodworking tools, and I'm looking to spend as little as possible, are these a good deal?

I have a measured 10m range in the basement- just a Gehmann trap and a big stack of targets.

Re: Air Pistol for new shooter
Speaking as a beginner... I liked the Alfa, but if you have XL or even L sized hands you can't get a grip that fits your hand. I sold it after I bought an FWB LP80, which I shot more consistently. My favorite so far, though, is the IZH-46m. Good balance, good trigger, and a great grip, if you're wil...

Re: How to modify IZH-46M grips
I'm in the process of shaping the grips on my 46m, and I found Nygord's Notes to be exactly what I needed. I'm not using my Dremel, though. I'm using an older hand-cut rasp I bought years ago for shaping airgun stocks for field target. Rasps are slower, but that's a good thing. Take a couple of stro...

Re: Custom IZH46M grips
I had a pair of Steve's adjustable Crosman grips that were only $99 shipped. They were pretty decent, but I can't imagine why these would be worth more than Rink grips.

Re: TOZ stuff
This seems like a good place to ask: What's a reasonable price for a used TOZ-35? I'll be in the market for one after I sell a few pieces. Also, are there any other options for beginners at 50m?
