Re: Front barrel band sight
Thanks for the referral. Actually, after I made this post, I found the Scott Riles website and have contacted him. Waiting to here back.

Front barrel band sight
Phoenix Precision use to manufacture an excellent long range front target sight. It is still shown on their website at https://www.phoenixprec.com/ It featured a barrel band (could even be custom ordered as to size) and was fully adjustable for elevation. It would accept a standard 22 mm front screw...

Anschutz rail accessories
I have a recently completed target rifle with an Anschutz rail installed in the forearm to which I want to attach a palm rest. I have a factory palm rest for my vintage Walther target rifle; however I have discovered that the two are not compatible. The dovetail attachment device on the Walther palm...

Re: .22 short target pistols
That's great. I don't understand why the Olympic Committee did not see fit to make the Free Pistol open to both men and women as that seemed to be an excuse to drop it in an attempt to achieve more balance in the Olympic events. Also, at $300 each, I'd take one myself!

Re: .22 short target pistols
On a related note, I wonder what will happen to the free pistol market here in the US now that it appears it will no longer be an Olympic event. Vintage Hammerli free pistols sometimes have outrageous asking prices but don't seem to sell well at any price. More reasonable dealers seem to finally rea...

.22 short target pistols
Correct me if I am wrong here, but it is my understanding that the .22 short is no longer used in Olympic/International competition. That said, it seems that target grade .22 short pistols such as the Walther OSP still bring a premium in the used marketplace. I find that odd given I assume the relat...

Re: 1911 Series 80 - are theses used anywhere for bullseye?
I have no idea why that would be, given the countless variations of custom 1911s that are out there and used in competition. In fact, Colt itself has gone back to manufacturing the Series 70. But then I also have no knowledge of Camp Perry rules or referees. The fact remains that the Series 80 was a...

Re: 1911 Series 80 - are theses used anywhere for bullseye?
It is also very easy to convert a Series 80 back to a 70. I recently rebuilt my Series 80 using a custom trigger kit from Brownells, a custom trigger from another source, and the required conversion shim, also from Brownells. There are several YouTube videos to show the process. I am no gunsmith, al...

Re: HV .22 LR in TOz 35
Thanks - Shot some older Remington HV hollow points yesterday in the TOZ. As the gentleman from Arizona pointed out, some of it shoots pretty well. In fact, at my skill level, could not tell the difference from the expensive target grade ammo. As an aside, like many TOZ shooters, I have had issues a...

HV .22 LR in TOz 35
I have a well-used, pre-Century Arms TOZ 35. I also have a ton of older HV .22LR ammo I would like to use up. Any issues here as it seems the TOZ is a pretty stout piece?

High Standard HS-22
I have been considering the purchase of a vintage High Standard target pistol. However, I just discovered that High Standard is currently producing the HS-22, which I believe is similar to the Victor. Anyone have any experience with this new model? Have not seen much in the way of reviews anywhere.

Walther Cleaning Rod Bore Guide
Looking for a cleaning rod bore guide for a Walther KKM-Match rifle. Granted this is a somewhat vintage rifle, but I am not seeing anything available, including at Champion. They suggested Possum Hollow, but their website shows nothing for that rifle. Any ideas here?

Re: Walther KKM Trigger Question
Spot on! Mystery solved. That is exactly what the mechanism does, and in fact, solves another mystery. Among the "goodies" that came with the rifle was a small, knurled, black-handled screwdriver in its own soft case. Did not seem to fit the sights or anything else, for that matter. Turns ...

Re: Walther KKM Trigger Question
No - it is a two-stage trigger; not a set trigger. What the photo does not show well is that the plunger inside the tube has a slotted end which you can turn either by hand or with a standard driver; then push the plunger down a ways (it is on a spring), turn it to a notch in the tube, and then it l...

Walther KKM Trigger Question
I recently acquired a vintage (1960's?) Walther KKM International Match in excellent condition with all the parts and pieces including the original manual. However, the trigger mechanism has a post with a spring plunger just forward of the guard but before the front attachment screw. I cannot figure...

Hammerli FP sear engagement adjustment
I recently acquired a Hammerli 106 FP. The manual under Trigger Weight/Sear Engagement states: To set sear engagement: Turn screw 1138 anti-clockwise about two full turns. Then cock the set trigger and slowly turn screw 1138 clockwise until the sear releases. Then back off (turn anti clockwise) one ...

Does anyone know if, when, and/or where the Rio 50mm Free Pistol will be televised? I have searched all over and can't seem to confirm. Also, curious that it appears no U.S. contenders in the event?

Re: Century Arms Toz 35
That is the conclusion that I more or less came to. However, I note that Larry's Guns of Maine is offering a "new" TOZ for almost $1400, albeit with Rink grips and forend, which by themselves sell for north of $400. Anyone know if TOZs are still in production?

Century Arms Toz 35
Cheaper Than Dirt is currently offering "Russian surplus" Century Arms Toz 35s for $504 + shipping. I am curious about the "surplus" designation. Are these Toz 35s any different than those otherwise available? I see one on Gun Broker listed as "New" for $800. Seems a bi...
