Re: Lower back tension in Offhand

What you're describing can also be attributed to either having too much weight too far forward (i.e. your gun is too front-heavy), and/or you have your NPA set too low on the target and are having to use those back muscles to pull the gun back up and keep it from drifting down. Neither is good. You ...

Re: TRIGGER HAND GLOVE

EJ, Trigger hand gloves are not necessary for everyone. I would suggest only buying one if you fall under one of the two following categories: 1) your hand gets sweaty and you feel like you could use some extra grippiness on your pistol grip to keep the feeling consistent throughout your shooting se...

how do my thoughts influence my shooting?

Hi TargetTalk! This is the first of a three-part series I am doing in my podcast on the mental game of shooting. In this episode we're talking about the conscious mind. What is it, how can I use it most effectively, and how will it make me a better shooter? Youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: Metrics to compare practice sessions and set practice go

I would say you can either use overall score, or something similar to what Jimro said. However I'm going to suggest that instead of keeping track of the poor shots, keep track of the good ones! Count the 10's! I find that counting the positives and focusing on what you do right really helps to build...

Scatt can be an excellent tool. I actually made a podcast about it with the Ohio State University rifle coach, and we had a fairly in depth discussion on the pros and cons and how to get the most out of it. Check it out if you get the time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD1zCMycS40

Re: Opinions on best smallbore rifle

Hey Chris, I just graduated from UAF this last May. If you can get up there, true, Dan won't be able to talk to you much because of recruiting rules, but the team members should be able to. Unfortunately for you, I don't think any of them shoot a Walther smallbore. Most shoot either a 1907 or 1913 a...

Re: Upgrades for LG400 (Sights and Buttplate)

Hey Chris, I would say that unless there is something specific about the contact III that you don't like, stick with it. If you're not experiencing any problems that you can specifically point out then by getting the contact IV you're probably not going to see any improvement in score and the only t...

Re: Looking for SCATT help?

So getting that consistency in your approach really just comes with focusing on that one thing in practice and doing it over and over again while being very attentive to your movement. Unfortunately it isn't something that you'll improve upon without just putting in time and doing the repetition.

Re: Looking for SCATT help?

Hey Andrew, In some ways, I think it is a big improvement, where in others it doesn't make too much of a difference. If you've been using one of the older systems with the downrange target frame for 10m, then you won't notice a difference in performance or function. The only benefit in this circumst...
