I have been very interested in the Morini CM22RF, Inquiries to our host provided information from Morini that the RF version is available in aluminum only. I was under the impression that the current trend in Rapid Fire pistols was for +1200 grams, the Al version is around 900 grams. This has me puz...

If you notice, the heights given are off an imaginary horizontal line, not the ground or floor. This allows for a range to have some slope to the ground. If you notice the 300 meter range has +/- 4.00M over 13 feet elevation variance allowed. Gort 6.3.9 Height of Target Center (Center of the Ten Rin...

There is no accuate formula, there are too many variables. That being said, as a general rule, most rimfire .22 reach a maximum velocity in about 400mm of barrel. The expantion ratio of such a small straitwall case will not allow it. Velocity should peak at about 400mm, level off out to maybe 500mm ...

A step further, if you can't call the shot, you are not visually aware of your sight alignment and sight picture. An inability to call the shot, I believe is an indicator of a lapse in visual and mental concentration of sight alignment/picture, assuming trigger control is good. I use my spotting sco...

I have read Mr. Halls essays with great interest over the last few years. Very instructive and enlightening. To excel in any martial art, which shooting ultimately is, requires constant analyzation, in an attempt to perfect all the elements. This sets the foundation for the Zen like state that we st...

Fitting Free Pistol Grips
I have a Morini84E and the "wings" that support the back of the palm are too tight. I have thick palms. Is the best way to take stock off the grip surface or the underside of the "wings".
Thanks Gort

It is my understanding that the dimple was to enhance the liquid priming mixture to flow evenly (through capilarlary action) in the rim. I have heard that cases are spun to help deposit the priming mixture before drying. Priming is such a important part of rimfire accuacy, the powder charges are so ...

Something I have noticed over the years. Arm length, the longer your arms, the wider the rear sight needs to be. Try holding the pistol 6 or 8 inches closer and see how wide the rear notch is. It is simple geometry really. I have long arms. 78 inches from fingertip to fingertip, many rear sights are...

Grip tension
I have been experimenting with technique to overcome a plateau and have discovered for me at least, a very strong grip has helped to stabilize my sight alignment. My aiming area wobble is still the same, but the sight alignment seems to be locked in. My trigger control has not suffered with the incr...

An obsevation; Having the trigger central to the axis of the bore acually may not be important. I belive that the trigger face should be square to the hand/grip interface, i.e. the web of the hand. This prevents the trigger force from torqueing the grip (read bore) from the axis of sight. Picture a ...

As I understand optical phyisics, at a fixed power of refraction (magification ) the depth of field is fixed. An iris ( apature ) must be used to alter the depth of field. Keep in mind that an artifical iris the same or larger diameter as the iris of the eye in a given light condition will not do an...

Ed, Your idea, in a very simular form has been tried, many years ago. Problems encountered were very significant gas cutting of the orifice, since peak chamber pressure was being vented. If I recall, peak chamber pressure flame temperatures in hi power rifles can exceed 3200F. Rimfire pressures and ...

Mike T, You might want to try the following: Sacrafice a short section of hex key, say 10mm long, insert it in the offending screw and give it a sharp rap, axially, with a small (4 to 6 oz.) hammer. Remove the section of hex key and retry removal with a standard hex key. I have found this procedure ...
