Depends on sights. For iron/open sights, it's very difficult to line black blade in black notch up with black bull and know where you are. Can be difficult seeing crosshairs against a bull too. Peep/diopter sights more or less need the black to be centred.

www.cityairweapons.com in Brum should be able to sort you out (gave me a few to try with my 2nd hand fwb 603). I believe the "right" size is whatever you prefer..... but it doesn't hurt to have a few to try!

Found this somewhere in my recent researches, but only saved as a .doc so I can't credit it.
