A digital voltmeter can be used to measure the voltage across the capacitor leads. Take care not to get zapped by the voltage. Because of the high voltage its best to use leads that clip to the wire. Place the leads before turning on the circuit. If the voltage climb approaches the voltage rating of...

My pistol factory board charged up to 150 volts. The capacitor was rated for 160 volts. I needed 160 volts for reliable ignition. Current generation photoflash capacitors are smaller than those put in the Walther so higher voltage caps will fit the same space. At 160 volts there should be good ignit...

My Morini 162EI suffered from a cracked frame that caused a leak. I was told it may have been due to dropping the gun. This was discovered after I sold the pistol. Pilkguns repaired the pistol. Morini replaced the frame at no cost to the buyer, or myself. I was the original owner. I have since heard...

It may not be difficult to make a pistol that looks like a free pistol, its much more to make it shoot like a free pistol. Other individuals have tried. Look at the A.H. Thompkins and Green designs. The Pardini PGP was built by a shooter, Pardini, who wasn't happy with then current designs. My Walth...

J-Team: Looks like you copied the Pardini K50. The real issue with a free pistol is the trigger assembly. Making a set trigger requires small precisely made parts. Look at the set trigger assembly for the K50. It is a modular unit that slips into the pistol. The Feinwerkbau Model 1 black powder targ...

Electronic Trigger Set Options
With my Walther replacement circuit board I see numerous possibilities: For training, imagine a trigger that fires at different pull weight with each shot. For free pistol shooters who prefer light trigger weight but are shooting in cold weather; imagine a different two stage trigger: Pull the trigg...

Hi Bob, Which board do you think would be in a FP with serial number 1263. Do you think it could be one of the early troublesome ones? Regards John It was early in the production series. I believe the serial numbers started at 1000 and went to almost 2500. What information do you have on the board ...

Walther FP New Board: Changing Live vs. Dry Fire Method
Refer to my thread on the"Walther Free Pistol Replacement Circuit Board" for background information: http://www.targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?t=32630 My replacement board selects live versus dry fire based on the position of the loading lever when the gun is powered up. I received the follo...

jbshooter: On looking at your photos I see I was mistaken. Your pistol uses LED's. The early model used a neon lamp and incandescent lamp to report charging and trigger pull. Reviewing my documentation it appears there may be four different boards that were produced. What remains constant are the co...

Re: Circuit Board for Walther FP later version
Here are the photos Bob. Please note that I think I might have had the large capacitor changed when i had the wires extended. The wiring was a bit stretched and frayed when I bought the pistol so I had my local radio engineer repair them and I think he did the cap at the same time. The cap says Pho...

Bob, It's great that you've given hope to Walther FP owners. While I don't own a Walther, perhaps you will take on an even bigger problem - repairing failed Morini electronics. Will you do so, please?????? Stan I had to buy a Walther to make a replacement board. Commitment to the Walther was becaus...

Re: Walther FP Information
Hi Bob, I've got the FP with the later board, serial 1262. I get a misfire about once every 20 shots, I think because of a weak firing pin effort. Did this also happen with the earlier board or did the earlier board fail to function altogether? I'm happy to send you any photo's of the board. I'd li...

Hi Bob, i'm interested in circuit board. I wish to put an electronic trigger to my toz, best regards, LukeP. Have you looked here? http://toz35.blogspot.com/2011/10/electromechanical-trigger-mechanics.html Igor has done exactly this using a solenoid from a Steyr LP10 operating at about 16 volts. My...

I expect a number of individuals will want replacement boards. This will make it possible to order multiple blank boards for a low cost, perhaps less than $10 each. The components on one board cost less than $20. By combining skills it should be possible for a group of persons to get these put toget...
