Re: Is the Success ratio 90-10% ??
I always tell people that serious target shooters spend big money on equipment that makes it a little easier to shoot. Things like anatomical grips, large bladed sights adjustable triggers - none of those make the gun more accurate in their own right; they make it easier to get a good shot off. That...

Re: Two Stage Dillon Powder Funnels for 32 Long and ACP
Same as the Lyman M-die, isn't it? The plug "sizes" the brass where the bullet sits to just under bullet diameter, and flares the mouth so you don't shave the bullet bearing surface. Only difference being it's also a funnel.

Re: Looking for a Match Pistol
Just to confuse the issue more: Scuba cylinders are generally either aluminum or steel. Most aluminum cylinders have a working pressure of 3000psi. Some, though, are rated lower, in the 2400 psi range (generally older tanks, from 25+ years ago) Steel cylinders are also available in different working...

Re: Source for 50m targets reduced to 25 yards?
Free pistol targets? The 50m free pistol target reduced for 25 yds is the B-35. Available from Kruger targets, Midway, National Targets, etc. Sorry; wasn't thinking and made the assumption you were talking pistol. I don't know about rifle targets. 2nd edit: Found this further down the post list: htt...

Re: Unable to focus on sights
So, I am thinking of getting a VarioLens 2 +. The original version was criticized for being a tad heavy, so the latest iteration of the VarioLens 2 is a lot lighter.... http://www.variolens.de/english.html Another tempting, and much cheaper, alternative is this - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...

Re: Converting Ruger MkII to FP
Is there a rule in FP that would disallow the extraction and ejection on a Ruger? In my mind (though I haven't shot a sanctioned FP match), you should be able to use it standard if you loaded a single round per magazine, no? It might bother the guy on your right, but that seems to be what ISSF is tr...

Re: Expired/Defective Cylinder Disposal (US)
As I have previously said, You CAN refill them yourself with a home compressor or pump since the DOT regs only apply to PV's in commerce. The expiration of air gun cylinders is not a DOT thing, is it? In scuba, I heard (have not bothered to verify) that DOT regs apply to testing and certification, ...

Re: Operating lever on pneumatic air pistol
I used to do the "barrel against the table" thing. Now (when I shoot the 65) I do similar to what Northpaw does: Bring the pistol in close, grab the end of the cocking lever, and simultaneously pull with the left hand while pushing with the right with decent thumb pressure. With a bit of p...

Re: Recoilless target firearm
Does anyone remember the S&W (I think) rapid fire pistol that looked sort of like a rectangular block of metal (I recall it was mid-80's timeframe.) Supposedly had the recoil impulse force the muzzle back and downwards. I looked for it a while back and found no reference to it. I never heard if ...

Re: Palm shelf question ?
Palm shelf is the flat piece at the bottom of the grip on a competition pistol. It sits against the base of the pinkie finger and back along the edge of the palm when gripping the pistol.

Re: Targettalk Monthly AP league
I know that we may have a few that will shoot 2 handed and use optics. That is fine too, just note that on with your scores. My local league has just that: Monthly meets to try and get more people interested in bullseye shooting (tending towards the International side, but the main thrust is to get...

Re: Shooters' friendly optometrist in the Bay Area
After a phone call, Simply Vision in San Leandro allowed me to bring my air pistol into the shop. Getting the prescription correct was reasonably straightforward. Getting the lens made (a 42mm lens for a set of Olympic Champion frames), however, was a pain.

Mine broke in a fall from my SUV. A little gorilla glue and some rather innovative clamping, and it's good as new (however good that is.)

Re: Loading a Pardini
I load the mag with the bolt open, and flick the bolt handle a bit to disengage the stop. On subsequent mag changes, I insert the mag most of the way, pull the bolt back with the offhand thumb, seat the mag, and let the bolt go forward. I don't like seating a full mag against the bolt bottom (I seem...

Re: Pardini SPE short cycling? need tips
My old SP does pretty much the same thing when it gets really dirty (and my HP does it when it's mildly dirty): The round is chambered, but the crap in the chamber prevents the cartridge from seating fully. The visual telltale: the slide "ears" (handles? grips?) don't extend as far as usua...

Re: Dimension for taper crimp 38 HBWC cartridge.
I have the sense that a taper crimped cartridge would have a uniform outside diameter, regardless of brass manufacturer. I used to shoot LC brass; was so thick walled. I’d see some loaded cartridges bulge slightly, so the TC die would give me assurance that they’d feed smoothly. The problem is that...
