That is Dillon compatible.
I am working with the Star.

Re: Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

Thanks! That powder slide was turned from bar- that is entirely built from scratch. I turned and milled that on manual machines but did consider drawing it up to see how much a shop would charge to make a short run of the body’s. I am pleased though. I made this to very close tolerances and it is th...

Re: Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

So I have gone with the adjustable slide route. This is a micrometer slide I made up for the Star '00' powder slide housing. I am getting perfectly consistent throws to the resolution readable on an M5. It is as always a work in progress- I am testing to see if I want to make another for the '0' sli...

Re: Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

All. Thank you for the information. This project has been years in the making as other concerns keep capturing my free time. So I purchased a Star Universal. I have housings for the ‘0’ and ‘00’ powder slides. I will setup for bushing and adjustable powder slides in the 0 bar. I am reloading for the...

Re: Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

Ok- Thank you. I am pondering the Star metering now. I have from Bruce at Star Machine that the bars he provides are set up with interchangeable bushings bored to customer specification for specific powder/charge. That information on bushings from StarMachine answers a question I had had of dialing ...

Re: Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

I contacted Hornady-

“ Thank you for your email. If you want that kind of accuracy then you need to use an electronic scale and powder trickler.”

I don’t want to go this route.
You guys are getting acceptable throws for the 32 from powder measures.

I am thinking to setup and try.

Re: Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

Next problem for .32 long is dies. Slug your barrel to find the bullet size as .32 is a bugger. From 0.308" up to 0.315", most dies are for 0.312" and european pistols are normally 0.314" (oversize dies needed). David now you are upsetting me…. So the perfect set of old Pacific ...

Re: Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

David, Thank you for that. I need to hold throws to .1gr? I intend to use the Lapua 98’s and N310 The tables are calling out 1.4 starting and 1.7 max I have an old Belding & Mull and my fallback is to make and a use a micrometer case that to drop and funnel each round individually. Edit- Underst...

Is it likely that a .32 S&W long wadcutter can be reloaded on a progressive?

All, I am pondering the purchase of a Hornady AP progressive press. What is the likelihood that this press will produce consistent reloads on the .32? I suppose I wonder most about the powder throw metering down to this size cartridge. Has anyone any experience with this press or other progressives ...

Re: Surviving muzzle brakes at the range?

I have a rifle setup in 223 for service rifle as well.
Not particularly loud.

My hearing protection was the gear I use for that-
Pro Ears Gold and 3m plugs.

Re: Surviving muzzle brakes at the range?

After a couple minutes I had a serious migraine, not from the sound but from the pressure spikes. …….it was downright painful to be in that range with those rifles. Regards, Crankster I am recovering from an SAH in 2020. Following this range trip my symptoms popped up again- vision problems, headac...

Surviving muzzle brakes at the range?

I was at a high power range working on some targets with a couple of friends a bit back. All was well for a early as the normal crowd of mil surp guys with Garands and some ar shooters came and went in the lanes next to us to the left. About noon two guys pulled in with ar's chambered in 7.62x39 16&...

Re: How are people testing for accuracy?

I am testing to find inherent accuracy in a barrel of unknown back history. I have an ideal of where the barrel should be and this one inch group is far over that- this is just a question of checking off the list that the barrel is where is should be. As an aside- my best rapid string at the short l...

Re: How are people testing for accuracy?

Dave thank you for that.
With this pistol a scope will not be possible.
This gun also has a barrel in 32 S&W long wadcutter and as I intend to try reloading for it so the problem of accuracy testing will haunt me.

I read with interest your posts on reloading for the 32

How are people testing for accuracy?

I have a new barrel for a 22 and I am trying to test fire to determine what kind of accuracy I am getting out of it. I went to the range today and do my normal thing- I rest the pistol on a fully loaded range bag and try to group. I then twitched to a fixture which is common at ranges- a steel vinyl...

My apologies for the delay- each barrel conversion is set for pull weight independently and they maintain that setting when changed.

Has anyone slugged the 32 barrel on a Sako Triace?

Hello all,

I am setting up to reload and I am interested in which bullet diameter to purchase.
Has anyone slugged the 32 barrel for the Triace or is it assumed that each barrel must be slugged to determine bore diameter?

Thank you
