Thanks for the insights, everyone.

Like anything else, I'm going to have to go and experiment with this a bit to see if it results in a better ability to hit the ten ring and/or call my shots.

The 4 Rules vs. Consistent Trigger Position

Ok, Jeff Cooper's 4 Rules of Gun Safety have been so ingrained into me that they're practically second nature. His third rule states that you should keep your finger off the trigger until you have aligned the sights on target. So, when shooting slow fire, I start with the pistol at rest, trigger fin...

For the cost of the Ruger plus modifications required to make it a competitive pistol, you may as well just buy a S&W Model 41 and be done with it.

The only other thing you'd need would be a set of target stocks.

I can put you in touch with Charlie. The OTC club would be happy to have another shooter.

We shoot Tuesday and Wednesday nights. If you show up, we should be able to get the appropriate paperwork into your hands.

Now, if I could just shoot up to the standards of the facility, I'd be set!

Adjusting to sub-six hold

Ok, so a few weeks ago I switched to using a sub-six hold. How long should it take for me to adjust? I like the fact that it's much more simplified than a 6 o'clock hold, and when everything falls into place, I shoot really well. But doing this consistently is the hard part. Do I need to be more awa...

Along those lines, I have often wondered whether a U-notch rear coupled with an appropriately sized bead front might be useful. It would appear to the shooter as a circle (on a post) inside another circle (the target) cupped inside a semi-circle (the rear sight). Hmmm. Stack the circles. That's an ...

Water, protein, carbs. I usually eat breakfast, but have thought that I should cut back. Fast food generally makes me feel off-kilter anyway, so perhaps some fruit and maybe a bagel or something a couple hours before the match. No caffeine, less sugar. I've found that even drinking a non-caffeinated...

I rather like mine. I only really use my airgun to practice slow fire now and again, so for that it seems to work. Especially at the price.
This is not me but this guy could be my twin.
So you're into lifting large triangular weights made of iron, eh? :)

I read the posts here because this seems to be the best forum for competitive pistol events. Bullseye-L is inadequate as it is an email-based forum, which is an obsolete medium.

Email lists are to internet communication as 8-track is to music.

Don't worry about it Justin, we will all argue about anything. (Who's going to be the first one to disagree?)
Hmmm...ok...

9mm or .45?

AK or AR?

:D

Anyway, off to read some more of the articles on the web.

Anyone have any firsthand experience with the CM5?

Egads! It wasn't my intention to start a flame war! :) I will say this much: I really like my S&W, and have shot some pretty decent scores with it. What I'm really interested in is comparing and contrasting the various European designs. As for the bolt-hold open, if you guys don't really see the...

It sounds like I may need to give up my preference for a bolt hold-open device and simply learn how to count to five... Anyway, while the bulk of my Eurogun experience is with the GSP, I'm certainly open to looking at the other designs. My mind is by no means made up. In fact, I'm just getting start...

Walther, Pardini, Morini, Hamerelli...

Hello, I've got a question that's probably been asked about ten thousand times before, but couldn't really find an answer for. Are there any websites that have done side-by-side comparisons of the pistols offered by the various manufacturers? I'd like to pick up a new target .22 for shooting both NR...
